Watch: Tim Bonython // Tony Laureano's Special Wave

Doesn't seem that long ago a video of Tony Laureano getting pitted at Coxos made us all feel old. A kid's body holding the line inside a man-size cavern.

Well, the young fella has now turned twenty and has the body to match his preternatural talent. Last year he caught one of the largest waves that broke at Nazare - whipped in by his old man Ramon - and more recently he's been chasing the paddle days at Naz.

Very different beast paddling Nazare. A long board is needed for entry, but as the wave is short, sudden adjustments have to be made to get in the pocket before it peters out. It ain't easy on nine or so feet of foam.

Here, Tim chats to Tony and also films his special wave from the water.

Beauty, thanks Stu!
Whenever I can't get to sleep I just pop on an old Timmy B clip and I'm out like a light.
Merry Christmas!

Great wave and seems like a good guy! Wish there were more pro surfers like him and less like NVR!

Over use of the word "paddle" but otherwise nice clip, nice wave.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be a rich kid bumping around on the back of daddy's ski. My tired arms and tap nose say yes but I’m not sure I respect it the same as if he’d paddled a couple k’s to get there

Edging into a heavy drop is magic; mastery of the moment.....exhilaration.
