Tim Bonython did a short trip down to Tassie recently, and with him were a couple of younger surfers. One in particular, 16-year old Ned Hart from WA, put on a hell of a show at his first Shippies session.

From Tim:

"I take notice when I feel the passion of someone young who really wants to ride big waves. Two years ago, I met Ned Hart at his home town of Dunsborough in Western Australia. It only took moments to understand what his long term goals are. But at 14 years of age in this sport it takes time. Two years later the kid has turned into an adult quick.

"Last year, thanks to his mum Adele, he spent time at a number of big wave spots like Teahupoo in Tahiti, Indonesia, and Hawaii. Now he's 16 and for the first time he took on Shipsterns Bluff in Tasmania. What we witnessed in three waves on the 26th of March, blew our minds, and here is the evidence."

Mental! Great composure and style. Grommet! Better thank your shaper for dialing that board in for you. It looked like it went well under foot.

And ol Tim can't resist putting his mug in the frame and carrying on.

Nice work Grom
Every Tow session ever at Shippies has Broken Tasmania Jet Ski laws
120 mts @5 knots from person in water - but likely falls under Freestyling
200 mts @ 5 knots from person in water

Anyway Steady Neddy's Testosterone Levels are only just showing - Holy Fark is the Boy gonna go Hard ..

Not just the cojones, the skill on that first wave was incredible.

For once, I appreciated Tim's use of slo-mo.

He's got balls the size of watermelons. After that everything must be a walk in the park. Another Kerbox in the making?

Cat like reflexes. Doesn't ditch just backs his skill if he gets a bit bent out of shape and muscles on! Love it!
