Watch: The Jack Edit
It was a dejected Jack Robinson who fronted the cameras after his last place finish in El Salvador. Wrote Steve Shearer of the interview:
"In a post-heat presser there was a lot of talk about “my journey” and other postmodern sports talk but the body language spoke much louder than words. The twitching and frowning face shows Jack is not in a happy place."
Collecting another 17th place, his third of the season, plus a no show for missing Margs through injury, means Jack will slip out of the top five. His season thus far looking like the cliched season of two halves: First, third, second, last, last, last.
Therefore, the greatest beneficiary of this just-released edit might not be the public, but Jack himself. With a wild variety of waves coming up - Brazil, J-Bay, Chopes - this clip is proof, if his collapsing self-confidence requires it, that yes, he can be the best surfer on Earth, and in all manner of waves
