Pumping pre-contest surf last Saturday with the pros getting some great warm up waves in.
The Corona Open J-Bay event kicks off tomorrow but we might be looking at a couple of lay days ahead more promising frontal activity this coming Sunday.

Agree I just brought home a fun board from Bali and sprayed in Blue as didn't feel nice paddling round with yum yum yellow on the bottom. Especially if I was going to surf at that spot

The only one I thought was a bit off was Jordy on that board he first rode. It looked slow and catched a bit. Yago looked very polished. I have not seen the forecast but this wave is by far one of the gems on the tour. Stayed for 3 months there a few years ago and got it smoking.
From my ability standpoint - wow I only wish I could surf maybe 1/3 as good JJF was mesmerising.

JJF and Jack for mine. Agree @Hazrus, Gabby looks like he's lost some of the dynamism we love from him. Joao's flow deficiencies are highlighted by this wave. Would have liked to see more of EE and thought Leo looked good too. Bring it on!

I wish the camera angle was further down the point looking back at the wave then you could see the tube rides. Also zoom out a little so you can see more of the wave

Hi speed carve to final fin release then flick back transition so seamless in waves of that size is untouched.
Watch Nathan Florences latest edit. He arrived without boards and hit up the local surf shop for a sled. Ended up on a Slater Designs Tokoro . Interesting viewing.

I was watching the replays mind surfing it and saying to myslef...hit the lip hit FFS the Fing lip and getting all frustrated........
and then I watched the KS comments where he said to surf it well you need to stay away form the lip and do the big mid face turns...
