Just watched the first 10 minutes.
Based on that Mick Fanning should be 2023 World Champ.
Most of those waves were intertwined with Ethan’s waves in this vid.
Mick had him for variety and flow, Ethan had him for criticality, bigger turns, bigger water displacement.
The judges would give it to Ethan imo and I would too.
I thought Ewing looked really weird, like his upper body rotation wasn't connected properly to his lower body and thus drive through turns.
Might have been nursing turns, who knows.
Definitely not the Ewing we've seen previously this season.
I was very underwhelmed.
100percent FR. He looked a little sluggish the year or so after he retired, but he's surfing better than he ever has now.
Easily the world champ.
Still one of the greatest turns in surfing history is the MF bottom turn. That thing is wild.
