Earlier this month, Tim chased a North Pacific swell to Mavericks, hopping a lift to the channel with the fella who named the wave.

What a boring wave to watch, don’t get me wrong you have to have guts to get amongst it, but I enjoyed the journey there, the marina, the pelicans for f*#ks sake, the drama of boat break down, the wave not so. At least there was no slow, slow mo!

How crowded is it for a hell take off? Mr Mick is sorta right it is a bit boring to watch however it would full adrenalin out there.

Tim does excellent work.

Merely because reasonable minds differ, doesn't change that.

Yep boring wave, hell adrenalin charged take off, but what a fucken circus. The left on the other side looks ok too.
PS. Pete Mel's wave still the best

How spoiled are us cosy keyboard warriors to call a wave like that boring. The elite of the elite big wave hellmen would be frothing to have a crack. The impulse to scratch for the horizon every time a set loomed would be too much for me.

Jeff Clark has demonstrated that getting old is not something to look forward to. Keep living the dream.

Mavericks like this looks bloody incredible. Smaller, low tide, what?

mr mick Monday, 11 Dec 2023 at 06:02 am new

I would think direction as well would make a difference, at least in that clip there was an actual wall making it more enjoyable to watch

That was madness!
"Is that the best wave in surfing ever!"
SO good.
I reckon Pete sat there in the channel and had a tear in his eye before he got bowled over. Haha
