Here's some history: Eleven years ago today, Parko showed Kelly Slater the hairy side of his middle finger during a dastardly yet legal drop in.
'Twas in the final of the 2013 Quiksilver Pro when the swell had gotten too big and stormy for Snapper so the finals were run down at Kirra. One of those memorable days, of which the old Quik Pro had many.
Anyhoo, reason for the regale is the current tradeswell jumping a few feet yesterday, over-running Snapper and pushing the action further down the bank. And of course, the 2013 drop in antagonist was out there, though he appears in neither of the YouTube vids below. See the Stab insta story at bottom.

100% not sure why they wouldn’t do a straight swap Margaret River with Snapper on the CT.
I think it's about who is going to pay for it. WA government pays the big bucks for the Margs comp (I think), not sure who would cover the cost for a Snapper CT? Assuming it used to be Quiksilver in the glory days?
I think its the Peniche effect in reverse....

Also, hasn't there always been dramas when they have to run at Dbah regarding permits etc? Different state/government etc
QLD Tourism paid lots of money over the years to underwrite comp at Snapper.
That arrangement fell down during Covid when QLD govt refused to pay for quarantine hotels for pros.
I don't know why I watch these, my experience over the last three days at coolie has been of, duckdiving washthroughs, pulling into closeouts, duckdiving more washthroughs, hassling, duckdiving, nearly getting run over by skis at Kirra.... Duckdiving, and run arounds... oh and then a double barrel through lower greenie/spot X... but mostly duckdiving.....
The double barrel makes it all worth it!

One of the best feelings in the world is getting a fat one at the bottom of Rainbow Bay and biding time until it hits the bank properly further down the line. That feeling of anticipation is the best.
