It's all in the lineage.
Following a similar template of puns - think: Kerrazy Kronicles, Kerrupt Flip - Sierra Kerr launches her debut edit, and it owes a debt to her sire and his legacy. Similar film style, similar locations, similar beats and aesthetics, which is all understandable. After all, this is a second gen surfer seeking success and the most obvious route is via the footsteps already laid down.
Ultimately, however, the scrutiny won't be on the aesthetics or the similarities, but on the performance. The question will be asked: Can Sierra back up the rumours and buzz that's surrounding her?
If she can, then hopefully she forges her own style and aesthetic, and father Josh can be the proud parent to the side of the stage leaving the spotlight to her.
Pre-Kerrsor is a confident first shot. The 17-year old showing flair and acrobatics above the lip, and courage underneath it.

Sierra ripping and charging. Love how Pickles pops up in the Chopes section surfing like a seasoned tube veteran. Hoping the CT (or Olympic) women get large Chopes this year, Molly will charge so hard.

Fantastic. Best thing I've seen since the offerings of Russ Bierke and Caity Simmers last year. The shear joy she shows is a delight. And her surfing is absolutely beautiful, not a series of disjointed hacks and aerial acrobatics, although she can clearly do the latter. Between her, Caity Simmers and Molly Picklum, it seems sensible for some to bail out of competing. Especially before she turns up. The level here is completely "other". Girls can't surf?

Wonder when Daddy Dearest will unleash her? Love to see her and Caity change the face of the women's CT - no more safe surfing. Hard to argue with surfing waves like that and dropping edits and staying the freesurf route!
Incredible, well-rounded surfing. Her backhand tube riding in some pretty heavy waves is particularly impressive. Thoroughly enjoyable clip.
Great clip - what a talent! Love to see her on tour someday. Always loved Steph's grace and style but this new generation bring something else - a full bag of tricks including the heavy water. Reckon she will give the "potty mouth ranger" a run for her money ....

Great surfing. Seems even a level above the new crop who are doing so well.
I bet skating has really helped her with looseness, agility and style. I can't imagine many of the current crop looking so comfortable on a skateboard. Good skaters rarely have bad styles and don't over use their arms.
That was a cool little clip. Sierra rips and would no doubt put some of the current CT'ers to shame. It's a shame there isn't a Molly/Sierra double for the Olympics.
I have to say it though, Oakley blades are, were and always will be a crime against humanity. They look 'effing ridiculous.
She reminds me of watching Kelly Slater when he was a grom. Surfing better than people with tons more practice and experience, just naturally gifted and confidant in their ability.
It takes a lot of courage to ride those kind of waves as well. Wow, that's some great surfing.
not sure if Sirerra's intereste and ambitions lay but I would love to see her compete on the tour - between her, Caitlyn Simmers n Pickles and others in the new gaurd like BSJ, Gabriella Bryan ... women's surfing is on an exciting trajectory
