Watch: Oscar Langburne // How Are Things On The West Coast?

Just as the Indo clips are coming in hot and fast, ol' Ozzie Langburne throws a dummy and a jink with this cross from a whole other ocean basin.

The titular west coast is Central America, specifically Panama and Nicaragua, which Oscar flies into after a quick stop off at the Christenson factory at Carlsbad - one way to avoid airline surfboard fees.

Reverting to a more classic editing style, where sessions are shown whole and not divided into keepers, the whole thing hinges upon clean surfing, tropical aesthetics, and most importantly, good tunes - Jack McCoy would approve. The highlight is a sultry right with Oscar drawing out single-pump bottom turns into lip cracks set to a brow-sweating score.

On that note: All music is signed off. An impressive feat when The Pixies, Interpol, and Viagra Boys are among the credits, and 'don't ask if you don't wanna know the answer' is the more common approach.

Sharp eyes may detect some Fiji pits in there. Not sure how that fits into the west coast theme. Not sure if it really matters.

Like a cross between early Hunters&Gatherers and the Laughing Clowns... a fine pedigree

Touring Oz later this year. I’ve seen them live once. Bloody unreal. Highly recommend going to see them.

Cool vid.
Music was great. The Viagra Boys track was excellent. I'll be listening to more of them. That Adalita track has always been a favourite, The Grim Repairer indeed.
Oscar goes alright. Good lines and great timing. Not a "trick" to be seen.
Better than watching Italoa at Ituama.

Like a fine wine , he's getting better with time . Great watch and music choice . That first wave angle change on takeoff , stylin !

That was fun. As above, good tunes help. Oscar looks like a young man who has it sorted. Generally approachable waves for the average surfer too. Time to plan a trip.

Sorry to be the dissenting voice...but if young Oscar wasn't so pretty with such lovely blond hair he would be as anonymous as the ten guys at my local who surf similar or better.
Nicely shot vid and music but just an imitation Craig Ando marketing clip for mine...

Doesn't that go for all those who rise to the top, generally speaking that is... don't know how Barton or P. Menczer made it so far

Always loved surfers who make the bottom turn a move in itself not just a means of getting to the move...

AndyM Monday, 1 Jul 2024 at 09:15 am new

Yeah hard to dislike that bottom turn.

Taken me 35 years to figure out what that Pixies song is all about but today's the day.
Un Chien Andalou.

Ha ha... lotta references in there.

The film clip includes footage from it too, plus a 'chien' or two.
