The 18 second period on Friday was something to behold!

pigdog Tuesday, 22 Jul 2025 at 05:34 pm

wow it was very good after all. looked great on live cams but not epic.

tip-top1 Tuesday, 22 Jul 2025 at 05:47 pm

great waves , looks like the hoods block the peripheral vision, lotta drop ins

big wave dave Tuesday, 22 Jul 2025 at 06:34 pm

legend at the 14 min mark...calls another surfer into a smoker. Spreading the aloha!

lostdoggy Tuesday, 22 Jul 2025 at 07:49 pm

Probably his girlfriend

Craig Tuesday, 22 Jul 2025 at 07:52 pm

True!

tubeshooter Tuesday, 22 Jul 2025 at 08:22 pm

I'm guessing not. If it was, she just would of went anyway, it's part of the deal isn't it?
He's either laying some groundwork or he's just being nice.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say it's the latter.

Hiccups Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 12:03 pm

That was Dan Ross letting her go.

Craig Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 12:04 pm

Thought so, has similar boards one with deck grip and this one without?

Hiccups Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 01:22 pm

Same colour, yeah. The full deck grip one is a big boy.

Craig Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 01:51 pm

Ahh, yes.

keithy Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 08:23 pm

not surprised he was being generous - briefly chatted with him last year during the big swell down on the surf coast. He was such a legend.

freeride76 Tuesday, 22 Jul 2025 at 08:50 pm

Some good solid surfing on bigger boards there- enjoyed watching that.

memlasurf Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 04:06 pm

Yeah good call after watching a CT event like Jbay you think why is everybody so slow and drawing longer lines - everybody isn't superhuman like those guys are and it looks fine either way.

dropwallet Tuesday, 29 Jul 2025 at 07:48 pm

That's what I thought, too. Nice to see how real people surf!

Puzzled Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 10:32 am

The pace that Winki breaks at leads to alot of trimming, not many turns...

zenagain Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 12:37 pm

I love seeing the blatant drop-inners being burnt.

Looks fun as.

scrotina Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 05:21 pm

is it me, or does that look like a better performance wave than bells?

bbbird Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 06:17 pm

Bells maybe easier to say & make than Winkipop or....Playa Zicatela ....

Blingas Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 10:19 pm

Playa zigatelais by far the craziest waves I have ever tried. Bells and winki are points every wave will run. Play zigatela is a whole different game. But the wave of your life is there for every playa

Sprout Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 07:00 pm

Boog cutty one of the best turns of the clip.

oldcoastroad Thursday, 24 Jul 2025 at 05:48 pm

spot on

Puzzled Wednesday, 23 Jul 2025 at 08:42 pm

No one surfing top to bottom... Is it the wave or the surfers?

oldcoastroad Thursday, 24 Jul 2025 at 05:48 pm

both

Aaaandy Friday, 25 Jul 2025 at 10:19 am

From what I can see alot of drop ins pulling off, not like the goldy.

stinky_wes Monday, 28 Jul 2025 at 10:43 am

It's a refreshing change watching regular surfers having fun on a wave and enjoying it for what it is, instead of the pros trying to destroy and work against the canvas they've been provided (JBay excepted).
