Drift surfboard giveaway
Drift is the new Australian surf film set in the early seventies that follows two brothers who lay the foundation of the modern surf industry. Drift is a fictional company name but it sums up the freewheeling spirit of the era. At around the same time many real surf companies were getting started and they also chose names belonging to the age. Rip Curl began as Rip Curl Hot Dog. "The words didn't mean anything," Rip Curl founder Doug Warbrick said "Except ripping was groovy; surfing the curl was groovy; we wanted to be groovy — so that was it."
Other groovy names appeared: Hot Buttered, Crystal Cylinders, Golden Breed. Even the filmamkers got into it: Witzig with Sea of Joy, Falzon with Morning of the Earth, Greenough with Crystal Voyager. All groovy, all herbal, alright.
To celebrate the release of Drift Swellnet has one Warner FTR surfboard to giveaway. All you have to do is answer this: It's 1972, surfing's Age of Aquarius is in full swing and you are about to start your own surfing company - what do you call it?

"The Source" as in the source of life.
"Ocean Vibrations" started in 1972.
In the 80s they nearly went bust, victims of changing fashion and the original owners' massive coke bills, but re-emerged under new management as "Vibe-Z", and did a nifty line in neon skate-wear.
In the 90s they did finally go under, but a major chain store bought the "Vibe-Z" name and resurrected the infamous poo-chucking chimp logo. For a while.
An Ocean Vibrations original t-shirt - featuring two dolphins kissing in a rainbow above an empty barreling wave - recently sold on EBay for $150.
A couple of my favourites from England in the seventies (these were real ones): "Zippy Sticks", "Bilbo" and, my all-time favourite, "Creamed Honey".
