Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.

Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.

Well. It’s all Captain Goodvibes here at present in the Ocean Beach Hotel, Padang.
We’ve got a bit of a gas problem again today, methane levels have risen in the cabin, may have to jump ship or go down with it.
Supa is just starting to write lines to go with his rhythmical and melodious rear end, quite the song writer I must say.
All the music with Captains is very enjoyable, thanks for posting it, just pondering our next meal so he can return to full gas production. No gas here is being taxed or imported, just imparted. AW

Captain Sensible...continued...
tbb recalls meeting him briefly twice...
(Tip!) 2nd time he may have been ill...he refused shaking hands with punters!
Put in context...a whole heap of crew crowded him in...so reckon he was backing off...
Possibly a phobia of sorts or just sheer exhaustion after an epic gig...as ya get with these legends!

This B Side Strawberry Dross medley
Is Kinda influenced by Snakefinger's / Residents Commercial Album...
Well...Crass also crossed over into this freak show carnival...likely from his time there as well.

Alt Title ...Hmm Sounds Great...
Well it has some real nifty tunes...perfect filler for sessions back in the Punk daze...
This being a later extra play from his LP re issue (So not a rehash but an original longer ep recording!)
This being the leftover not on the single...so it flows on as intended...not a filler!
Recorded in his bedroom on TEAC Portastudio
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portastudio

Bonus...Here's his earlier equally Psychotic Crass / Poison Girls Carnival ep
It's a little rough...but does have a unique quality as the above Medley.
Always very weird & original but also has this bizarre inherent anarchistic Tunesmith quality!
Like ya wanna instantly dismiss his oddball sound but it's ever fresh & unique...even still now!
So yeah! Equally groundbreaking & none would notice or care...a lot to absorb here!
Anything but boring...just keeps cooking like a stock pot...throw that in...like this...Oh Yeah! Cool!
So many different sounds orchestrating a truly weird anarchistic mosaic...but it works out fine!

"This is yer Captain Speaking!"

What D'Ya Give...the Man who's gotten Everything
Our Souls to You
* The Russians are Coming
(Do yerselves a favour...this is still a shit hot WAR protest track ...perfectly fit for 2025)
Also very original...sounds like no other punk track...that's wot we punks crave...the real deal it is!
Reckon if ya roll this out now as a re-issue...farkin' piss off all them warmonger freaks it would!
Check out the texture of sound...fuckin' groovy punk ethic + Air raid sirens..it's the bomb!
Dig this shit...so far ahead of the game is Captain Sensible...we are not worthy fans!

Worldwide #1 Surf's Up Dreamtime Songline...{Ben's Tunesmiths' exclusive}

Please allow tbb the time of day to retell a dead man's tale as we all gain respect from sharing.

(Part 1)

Aussies grew up with Saltwater Songlines coming to life as seachange Sound Bytes.
Every schoolchild now sings local Dreamtime songs that document Monumental Seachange events.
Just guessing there are well over 50 tbb has heard & reckon there are over 100 sea change songlines.
World's best oceanographers are astounded by the ecological detail of these Seachange Virstuosos.
Seemingly as a united Worldwide chorus these Seachange ditties rise to the fore in plain sight to all.
Us white arsed invaders nod...we knew that yer sea shanties are real...of course we did! (Coughing fit!)

Today! Ben's tunesmiths have a real treat...an exclusive in fact.
Imagine a worldwide #1 Tsunami Sized Smash Hit about a Big Wave Surf Spot that falls off the radar.
This Massive Hit has never been heralded as a #1 US Dreamtime Big Wave Anthem that it truly is!
The reason of taboo secrecy lies in the fact that the songwriter died 6 months before Worldwide Smash!

However! The Surf godz are kind to us...
tbb is a punk drummer well versed in Saltwater Tales & has works in Local / State Capital Libraries.
Also grew up with this single at home + SLF Punk cover...So this is tbb's bread'n'butter...

This smash hit has way too much detail but also too much of this detail is likewise lost in the detail...
The opposing seascape Lyric is translating a monumental but localized sea change big wave event
This is why the lyric keeps true to Indian Surfing roots despite the song seemingly contradicting itself.

If we dig a little deeper we can score just enough secrets to unravel the Locale of original & context.
tbb means that...it don't come easy in this case...ya gotta first believe then plan yer back door kick in.
Pretty sure we can unravel the secrets of #1 US Big Wave Surf Hang Song!
Once the crew marry the lyric to the [LOCALS ONLY] Surf Hang History...Like Wow Wipeout!
This Worldwide Smash Surf Song comes alive & takes ya for the ride of yer life!
Oh! It's real alright...d 'd 'don't you worry 'bout that!
We will reap wot we sow...that's wot we do 'round here...the real deal!

Here's how this taboo Surf Story unfolds...
The Big Bopper was born 1930 [Sabine Pass] Texas > Hang on! Why did tbb [Frame that like that...shh!]
During his childhood he was fascinated about Sabine Pass Indian Tribal stories that he heard.
These local Sabine Pass Indian stories inspired the song Running Bear ...loves little White Dove.
Wotz unusual is he felt the song was too tragic for his persona.
But he felt strongly enough to 'pass it on' to his Cajun friend (Enrolled as Indian interracial outcasts)
So this traditional Indian song importantly preserves original heartfelt Indian culture...never Sold Out.
Even more importantly, Indian people are not offended & approve of this song & makes them feel proud!
So we know the Lyric has natural culturally sensitive merit...that is most rare & unusual! Wow!
Even better that we can continue with merited Historical intent...do no harm...equally important!

(Pause) During the Mass Teeny Bopper Plague Era > These Suicide Pact Hits were all the Rage...
Taboo lovers elope as the raging sea swallows them whole...( So there's that hurdle to overcome! )
Just another Teen Suicide Pact Ditty! Sure! Ok,Blah blah blah! We end this story here...(Not so fast!)

We still gotta consider why such make believe whimsical waving anomaly doesn't offend local Indians.
We owe that to the Dead Poets Society...Why is this ultra sensitive Taboo Lyric acceptable...Huh!
Ok! Let's consider the Local Indian's Lyric has contextual merit...can we rack our Surf Brains to kick it!
Who's up for a Mystery Big Wave Surf Hang Secret Spot Quest...everyone...good!
We owe the Local Indians that at least...Another Dreamtime Seachange Story comes to life...
Who don't wanna stoke a Surf Fairytale...

We'll have to dust off & kickstart tbb's unfathomobile for part 2...off they go on their Mystery Surf Safari
'nother...Ship of fools sailing off the end off our Flat Earth...Yew!
My kingdom for a Map!

Surf's Up Exclusive Dreamtime Songline (Part 2)

1959 Running Bear lyrics by Songwriter : J. P. Richardson
Inspired by 1930's Indian Stories passed down by Sabine Pass Tribes

On the bank of the river stood Running Bear, young Indian brave
On the other side of the river stood his lovely Indian maid
Little White Dove was her name, such a lovely sight to see
But their tribes fought with each other, so their love could never be

(Chorus)
Running Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love big as the sky
Running Bear loved Little White Dove
With a love that couldn't die

He couldn't swim the raging river 'cause the river was too wide
He couldn't reach Little White Dove waiting on the other side
In the moonlight he could see her throwing kisses 'cross the waves
Her little heart was beating faster, waiting there for her brave
(Chorus)
Running Bear dove in the water, Little White Dove did the same
And they swam out to each other, through the swirling stream they came
As their hands touched and their lips met, the raging river pulled them down
Now they'll always be together in that happy hunting ground
(Chorus)

Firstly...We know where this Surf Story unfolds...[Sabine Pass] that's a massive leg up.
Next! How to date this story + who are these Sabine Pass tribes..talk about gettin' lucky! Supastoked!
(Do yerselves a favour...Tales of Yore Sabine Pass dream weaver!)
[ The Romance of Sabine Lake by W.T.Block ]
(Salute..we mere mortals are not worthy! OMG...even comes with it's own built in Bomb Set...Drool!)
https://www.wtblock.com/sabine1.htm

100-400 : (Marksville Culture)
400-1500 : 7ft Tall Karakawa Tribe
https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/karankawa-people-today/
1500-onward (Correct...these are the native Migration of said 2 Tribes / Critters

tbb's open general research surprisingly kicks this insane detail along a little better
Running Bear/s + Attakapas Tribe migrated from the North to settle on Louisiana Bank
Little White Dove/s + Nacazils Tribe migrated from the South to settle on Texas Bank
Yes! As in real animal clans & opposite Sabine Tribes on the River...100% Local Tribal names tick!
Please do Check that...makes perfect sense...Lock it in!

Basically all these critters / Tribes and many more are Sabine Fixtures interwoven into the Song Lyric.

1550-1770 Running Bear / White Dove waves relates specifically to the end of this Time Period
1770's Cajun Mix Indians (Sabine Tribal song > Cajun J Preston / default storyteller to the World!)
Maps > English > Wrecks > Hurricane/s > Wrecks > 1790's Anglos

1815-30's Slaves > Surf Rafter Log Jams > Cotton > Military
1840 Customs House > Taxes > 1844 Cannons
1857 Lighthouse > Check the Wetlands Massive Support Anchoring Buttress
Hurricane surges rise above them 20ft tall Flares then the Wave/s lap that top window 50ft
Lifeguards would escape to the top light section to avoid the Lapping Wave/s
https://heartoflouisiana.com/sabine-pass-lighthouse/
1865-1879 Hurricanes Strike every odd year
1879 US 1st Lifeguard Station (Home to US Lifeguard Service)
Back then a Monstrous Seasonal Standing Wave...now a tame lame still port!
Map shows the rising Standing Wave Location (re: Hurricanes surge the massive Pass Standing wave)
When she breaks > Houses are flung 10 miles across the lake > beached inland
1986 LG Station Wiped Out by 20ft Storm Surge > Escape Waves lapping 50ft high up Lighthouse
https://www.sfasu.edu/heritagecenter/9634.asp

Maps > swamped 20ft deep LG station (Slab Pad) 50ft Right Shoulder / Lipping the Lighthouse

https://www.raremaps.com/gallery/detail/62348/sabine-pass-and-lake-loui…

1896 Dredging
https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/sabine-neches-waterway-and-…

1915 Another massive Hurricane wiped out Sabine Pass + Bayou/s
The whole Pass / lake was dredged = No more steeping Standing Wave.

Trad Sabine Indian Tribal Song Lyric reads (Trad / Local critter clans)
Love as big as the sky...All tribes surround & share / face the Universal Massive Big Sky Sabine Lake
River was too wide = Renowned Sabine Lake of ocean swell < > windy White Caps frequent the lake.
Couldn't swim The Raging River = The Hurricane/s stoking the long narrow Pass Standing Wave/s
But could see her close enough as she blows Kisses cross the (Narrow Pass Standing Waves)
Both Tribal lovers dive into the Swirling Wave/s to reach the Safety of Hunting Ground / Sabine Bank.
Just as they embrace the Wave Rises & wipes out the Lovers on Sabine bank..
A metaphor : Native Americans/slaves along shorelines & any number to 1500 lives lost to Tidal Surge.
10,000's wiped out in Central America Island Hurricanes
Sucked out to Sabine Bank facing the Monster Wave arcing up to lap the Light House window!.
The Happy Hunting Ground (here) is their neutral State / Tribal Border Bank watery grave.
https://www.fws.gov/refuge/sabine/visit-us/activities

Best guess being a swansong of last N/S tribes wiped out by final Hurricane Pass Standing Wave.
Easily toss any remaining tribes folk 10 miles inland...see ya!
That's the end of that race...read the script...most tribes only lasting a few 100 years > Next!

Salute the Big Bopper for having the cultural awareness to preserve his local Indian's Surf Song.

Surf Slaves a plenty > No matter where...back in the day
1820's Gold Coast Convict Wave Slaves surfin'Cedar rafts in 10ft Storm Surges over 30kms
1900's 100's of Nazare Wave Slaves surfing 50 ft Midnite Winter sets to feed the sardine cannery!

1896 Dredging of Sabine Pass tamed the US Gulf's mega seasonal 30ft Standing Wave Face.
1972 Sabine pass now 40ft Deep x 400ft wide...no more Naturally steep Standing Wave.
1930's US Army stoked a 1km pass at Newport stoking 30ft replacement Mutant Wave .

Otherside of the world...
1970's Pacific cutting / pooling Lagoon channels billowed up a mutated 30ft Teahupoo Wave Face.

It seems like a genuine straight rip of an actual Big Wave Hang...ain't nuthin' more about it.
Pretty hard to read that none of this happened when history has recorded it just as the song lyrics!
Crew can read that tbb pulled this track apart & it keeps ticking boxes in the exact same time frame.
The characters, the timeline, odd lively Lake, waves, riverscape up/down description to last rites!
It's the last wave in for these Indian River Tribes...even names them...as sad as it sounds.
The ultimate like wow big wave wipeout for real as it happened in song!

Song #101 of yet another Mob being wiped out by Climate Change...

If ya still think this is far fetched >
Check the Speed of GBR Sea Invasion...blow yer tiny minds.
David Attenborough: "Roughly 14,000 years ago the climate started to dramatically change."
Scientist: "It was the end of the ice age, and all that water started to innundate the continental shelf, to flood this vast flat landscape"
David Attenborough: "In one man's lifetime?"
Scientist:"Absolutely"
David Attenborough: "So people living here are going to have to retreat?
Scientist: "Absolutely. It would have been a dramatic time for them. They would have been following the coastline as it prograded further and further back as the water was flooding the shelf. The rate of change was so great that in these very flat areas here, the coastline would have moved back hundreds of metres every year.
David Attenborough: "Every Year?
Scientist: "Every Year!
David Attenborough: "Gosh. That is formidable."

It's actually another Song'n'dance routine just as ya hear with this one here...
There are science shows that explain why we use song to recall these Sea Change Wipeouts!
So all in all it explains why US Indian Race are proud of this Songline as it's based on tribal truths.
It sure sounds like the real deal! Happy to share a swellnet exclusive hiding in the plain light of day!

though of you seeds, this is a country album by Keith Gattis
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7VFMFSVwQJIXArct39YztA

^ Big City Blues, the production sounds incredible,
dunno how to put the album youtube tracklist up..

but too full of twang-diddley, down-homey succotash for me,
but highly recommended by a cool bass player, Dave Roe, who's seen plenty:

Fred Armisen doing accents, and the comments love it..

'that WIRED accent guy', on the cusp of becoming really annoying

Bit too full of twang-diddley for me too. I like those sounds but it’s gotta be a bit more blues than country. I’m wide awake riding my dray and cart not slumped asleep drooling tabbaci juice on my wranglers.

You have 1 new message: CONGRATULATIONS!! YOU HAVE WON!!
Indeed you have, because if you haven't heard this song before, you haven't heard the greatest drumming track in history. Period.
Sepultura's Desperate Cry, with Igor Cavalera hammering the drums into oblivion.
It just gets better as it goes further with an incredible crescendo at the end, that still stands as the greatest piece of drumming i've heard in my lifetime.
Enjoy!

swellnet drum circle double kicks them Metal Drummer Nerds to explain.

Double stroke with the foot. 2 hits from the same foot, then 2 more with the other...rinse and repeat.
( It's a Foot Pedal device that allows 2 x 2 extra beats upon standard pedal )

Igor bangs Pearl so we'll example his type of pedal.
https://www.amazon.com/Pearl-Eliminator-Redline-Double-Pedal/dp/B01ECV8…

Knowing how to do double strokes is great for control, the part people call cheating is using sloppy doubles (since downstroke is usually much louder than upstroke) and then covering it up with triggers set to hide dynamics.

Bro actually, I was so surprised when I found out the motion of doubles with your feet. It’s actually stupidly easy. Certain pedal settings definitely help but you can do it with most regular pedals. Once I realized it’s not a full heel toe stroke that you’re just using the rebound and tension, it kind of blew the whole thing open for me.

Specific pedal settings definitely help a lot though
Doubles with Trick Drums USA and FootBlaster Drum Gear is a game changer!

Absolutely! Same man. It’s been a game changer over the past decade for me. I’m able to synthesize more extreme styles and way more articulate playing rather than feeling stiff while playing fast and loose while playing fusion or something. Now I can do both simultaneously without feeling held back in either direction. Definitely opens up creativity like crazy. I’m using the tension, (Micro Springs) rebound, and back pressure to play two strokes on each foot. RR LL just repeated like a double stroke roll with the hands, just for your feet.
RR LL doubles are easy. Only hard thing about it is to get your pedal settings right.. i learned it by accident when starting on E kit couldn't play shit, but was able to do 200 bpm double bass.. really hard variation of doubles is RLRL (R-heel L-heel R-front L-front) check out wanja groger his technique is crazy.

Speed Master bearings will greatly improve that pedal.
Really my only concern is how much lipstick I wanna put on a pig ya know?
https://www.facebook.com/groups/217081992029067/posts/1794952110908706/

swellnet drum circle off beat bonus should kick this along nicely...

Height > Fans say Drummer Igor is around 5ft 8inches.
Meaning shorter limbs = more BPM...

(Ideal Athletic Example) =
Chix would likely drum the fastest if they we're allowed to drum but they usually break yer kit...(tbb!!!)

Shorter Limb chix from a lower apparatus can still tumble an extra rotation than lazy male Olympians!
or
Shorter Limb Duck Gurl outscored Golden Jock in same skate bowl.(Goldie taboo to reveal that truth!)
or
Shorter Limb Curling chix can sweep excess strokes to ramp Woman made climate change by 2 degrees
or
Shorter Limb Diving chix can complete more rotations
or
Recall them Ice Skating Chix would spiral all day (Woke Blokes censored them & put a Timer on it)
https://recordsetter.com/world-record/spiral-move-while-ice-skating/552…

Exactly...outside of Tunes...no one cares to follow the World Order anymore...beat goes on!

southernraw Tuesday, 4 Nov 2025 at 12:50 pm new

Niice @tbb. Ahh but it's the drum rolls thrown in with the double kick and the way they keep buiding like machine gun fire in a battle towards the end that is where the magic lies. I can double kick on the drums too!! haha

Some instrumental ska from Japan. How fun would this be live!?

Edit to add an actual live version. Amazing how boring the crowd is compared to that first "film clip" version

Partner and I are going to see Wolf Alice tonight in Prague, the first time seeing them since Laneway Auckland in 2018 (how life changes in 7 years). Hoping for a mix of old and new but their new album is good back to front. One of the best rock bands in the world right now without a doubt.

Similarly we got to see The Beths on their european tour last month at a sold out show in Berlin - unbelievable to go from seeing them play Hollywood Cinema in Avondale 10 years ago to selling out shows across the world! This is the best guitar-band to come out of New Zealand in 20 years easily. They just played on Jimmy Kimmel which is insane!

I don't think being my parents current landlord makes me a nepo baby - quite the opposite, maybe they are nepo parents?

In all seriousness, five years on the grindstone in Aus put some decent coin in the bank - it still is the workers paradise if you need it to be. We are "settled" and working in Prague now - my partner is an academic doctor so great person to have for getting visas from universities in strange places. I still work part time-ish remotely for an Aus company to top up the coffers. Long way from the waves but that's the journey life takes sometimes.
