Me too, I'm down to three surfers and two of them are competing against each other in the Quarters.

For my first go at fantasy surfer, I have to say it's pretty fun.

i dont get whats the deal with the alternate surfer,in my case i chose Mikey Wright but had a line struck thru him at the start ?anyone know why?

Does the team selection close when the event waiting period kicks off, or when they run it?

Says this in the info tab...

"All trading will be closed at the start of the first heat and open again at the end of that event. In other words, trading is disabled when the actual event is being contested."

Cheers, there's a time countdown on the site also though that indicates it will be closed at 12am tonight. Have my team ready to go in any case.

I reckon I've put together a pretty solid team with my budget and also betting on a couple of unknown quantities. I've only got one goofy but it aint Medina.

Fucker will probably end up winning it though.

I don't like that if your player goes up in value you don't get to sell him at the higher price. You only get to keep him at the cheaper price.
E.g. I had Ace at 6k from the first event and his price has gone up to 7k. If I trade him in I only get the 6k back.

Yeah same! I had a few go up and thought it would increase my salary cap. Isn't that the idea.

Don't get it, few of mine went up in value but then I had more available to spend. Eh? Thought if your team was worth more you'd have less to play with.

Ah, I see the surfers cost changes depending on performance, but if you have them in your team already, then they remain the same price.

If you swap them out you have to buy them back in at that more expensive price. So it looks like it favours getting someone cheaper who goes up in value and becomes harder for other players to fit in their team as the price goes up.

A little different to a changing salary cap which to me is easier to make sense of.

So right now Ace, Owen and Filipe have gone up, so I'll keep them in and anyone picking the same team right now wouldn't be able to afford them..

I didnt go in the girls last time but having a go this event but its even harder price wise ,cant buy who i want cause wont have enough money..so went a bit lower to fill the spots....

How are the prices determined? Obviously ranking, but are there other factors put into play such as their style vs wave type?

I think just purely on ranking initially and then performance there on each event.

I'm led to believe there's some smoke and mirrors involved and a Chinese abacus...

I actually like this system Craig. It rewards you big time as the year goes on if you take a punt early on and get a guy who jumps up the rankings very quickly.

I've never even thought about going in a player short.

The third round seeding kills me again. Thought I was looking good getting all 8 surfers through to Rd 3 until I saw the heat draw. 6 of 8 surfing against each other. :/

Six surfers left after Round 3, which is about six more surfers than I had at this stage of the Quik Pro.

Rd 4 is gonna be a massacre for me though.

Been totally smoked- got nobody left in the quarters.

It's all downhill from here.

Yeh, arg. I would like it if it was like a tennis draw. The seeding happens in Rd 1 and you can play out the scenarios yourself from there.
