The Greens far more socialist and Marxist than environmentalist. They're not a valid political party in any way whatsoever.
Most importantly, they just don't get the basic, fundamental economic tradeoff between inequality and incentive. This central tradeoff is hammered into you at every stage of an economics degree.
If the Greens had their way we'd be living in a hard core socialist system in which all means of production is state owned. Most of the workforce would be publicly employed. The wealth of successful, productive, energetic and consequently wealthy people would be redistributed to unsuccessful, unproductive people, particularly the lazy and unwilling to work, in order to achieve "equality", "fairness" and "economic justice".
The long-term outcome would be a stagnant economy with no innovation, productivity improvements, technological advance, or growth, since people would have no incentive to.
The private sector would dry up. There would be no tax base to fund the massive public sector. We'd run continual govt deficits. We'd rack up unsustainable govt debt. There'd be no tax base to pay off the debt. The nation would collapse financially.
Other countries would still continue to innovate and develop new technologies, products and services. We'd get left for dead in the global marketplace. All the latest and greatest products and services we'd want to purchase would come from overseas. We'd run continual trade deficits that are also funded by borrowing. Either that or we'd have to turn to hard core trade protectionism
Our economy and innovation would collapse. We would not be able to support a large, technologically advanced military to defend ourselves. Countries like China would easily and swiftly take us over. We'd vanish as a nation.
This cycle has played out countless times historically.
A healthy amount of wealth and income inequality is absolutely vital to ensure the dynamism, vitality, innovation, competitiveness, productivity, technological development and overall growth, success, wealth, prosperity and living standards of a nation.
I think the Greens need some Thomas Sowell wisdom.
I think the chances of the Greens ever being the leading governing party is SFA....

Thats exactly what he does he doesn't normally sit there though he normally lies down he then can see everything going on from there.
If it was up to me id have kept him off there, but my wife spoils him and we would have ten dogs if it was up to her.

When i was young i had no interest in politics and always voted Greens based on thinking they were all about the environment, i have mates with zero interest in politics that probably still think this way.
Imagine how many young people vote for the greens without really understanding what they are voting for.

If you think I'm arguing for no role for government provision of any products and services at all in the economy, then you definitely have been on the drugs, and/or you've never actually read anything I've said about economics stuff, and/or you just don't know what I mean when I say things like (from the US thread):

Do you know what a mixed market economy is? Do you know what the consensus among economists is of the role of government provision, even the most minimal role pushed by say libertarian and classical economists?
Maybe try reading any basic first year economics textbook and you'll see what they say about the fundamental and sensible role of government and public provision of some products and services in a mixed market economy - what they recommend for public provision vs what should be left to the private sector.
The Greens are not arguing for basic, common sense mixed market economy economics 101. They're pushing for full blown socialism and economic oblivion.
There's a very big difference.

My staffy died of old age….he's irreplaceable so no more dogs.
Travelling now a lot too…..he was a true surf dog…..chucked sticks into the waves and he’d swim right out and bodysurf back with them in his mouth…..
I chucked a stick way up and over into the dunes once to give him a soft sand run and he came back with a coppers log in his mouth…..found a better one than mine…ha ha…..wouldn’t put it down and walked all along the beach with it straining away much to everyone’s amusement.

Since the 1930's no government has been voted out after one term, LNP realistically dont have a chance this election.

It's so easy for me to fall into this mindset of Labor being the enemy because id prefer a LNP government, but i need to try to move out of this mindset, they share differences but they also share a lot in common, they are both in the centre just one right of centre one left of centre.
For me the real enemy is the more radical far left parties most are irrelevant but the Greens are not.

Yeah thats the only hard bit with dogs, the restriction's in can bring on traveling especially overseas but even in Australia go somewhere like the south coast of NSW and it restricts you greatly on places you can stay or beaches you can go.
Luckily we have a friend that dog sits, so when we go to Indo our dog is happily hanging out with other dogs baking himself in front of wood fire place.

Agree about the Greens but the Teals?? They're amongst the most decent bunch in politics, well educated, principled, they're all successful career woman from professional backgrounds and at least they have an eye out for their communities rather than vested interests. If it wasn't for the lack of action on corruption and climate change, in previous times they'd probably be LNP candidates but that mob have drifted too far to the right and they don't stand a chance of getting in with them now. We need more of them in parliament not less.

Thats how some have painted them but their voting record shows they are more likely to vote the same way as the Greens or even Labor rather than LNP

If the Greens are capitalist, if they depend upon and believe in the current system, I really can't accept that they are defined as being that far to the left.
Yes they want to do some pretty serious tinkering such as changes to taxation, superannuation and bringing natural monopolies back under public ownership, but the overall structure of capitalism, free trade and corporate control over the economy remains.
I don't see how that can be called far left.
Either a boofhead has created that Vote Compass site and/or it's designed to keep people sceptical of The Greens.
