Fin Choice on Step-Ups

Try them first, they should be good. I assume as it's a step up the tail will be pulled in?
The narrower the tail the less fin you need.

@Udo - yep, am 35 and stocky. Have actually slowly pulled volume down over last 5 years with the caveat that the board has to have it in the right place under my chest and a carry a decent amount of width to the rails. Has helped my surfing by forcing me to position myself better.

I think conventional wisdom says smaller fins are the go on bigger boards.

However I've always preferred more fin.

As lostdoggy said, give em a go.

Larger front fins and slightly smaller rear (on a thruster) a la AM2 works for me.

It's not about the size, Udo, it's about having the girth distributed in the right places to hit that magic spot.

Different girth achieves different results in different tunnels.

Larger side fins and smaller tail fin.

I use some kind of Mick Fanning fin in the tail ( MF2 : its green ! ) and some other side fins that were Parko's fins for Chopes the year he cut his foot and missed the title - allegedly anyway.

I figured out that this was my ultimate bigger wave set up but I now use it every where unless it gets to a flat out point- and - shoot barrel situation , then I throw in the remaining larger Parko tail fin.

Great combo. Wish I had the names of the Parko fin but they're unadorned. Sorry.

Picked up the board and she's a beauty - Corey Graham at Torquay was the shaper - check out his insta for some pretty epic board porn. This, however, is all simplicity and I couldn't be happier; exactly what I was envisaging.

I've got a set of AM2s (Futures) that I've put in the board - Found them a bit stiff on my smaller boards but looking forward to giving them a go on the bigger one.

Now just gotta find my way into some decent surf... hopefully not waiting too long.
