Bloody pricey new but maybe check out a used Firewire Thunderbolt Moe (5 fin eggy shape). Saw a bloke on a 7’2 the other week and he was bloody ripping on it. Good surfer obviously but still surprising how hp and nimble it was.
I have a 6'8" coming to the end of it's lifespan which has been such an unbelievable and versatile board I decided to copy the dimensions a few months back. See what you think.

Have you tried contacting Zak Surfboards in Thornbury (now called Melbourne Surf, I think)? They stock MAD's boards and can probably put you in touch with the man himself.
So many options. Plenty of shapers in and around Torquay and Surf Coast. Not sure why it would be hard to find someone if you're willing to pay a fair price. I'd start with Greg Brown at Gash. I think Titch lives in Thailand but he still makes boards.

Sorry I’m a bit more south of that coast and Mr Anthony seems to be OS alot. What I should have asked is when trying to make a board as light as possible is it only a matter of cloth and glass or do blanks come in a range of weights.
Blanks come in different densities.
The light weight ones will pressure ding more easily.
For a mini-mal my preference would be a high density blank with standard light glassing of 4x4 top and 4x bottom.
If you're going to be riding form the mid section and tail ( ie no nose riding), you could ask for a 4 top and bottom with another 4 on top that is cut into a triangle starting from about a qtr way up with the apex at the tip of the nose.
Drops a bit of weight and gives a good flex pattern for surfing imo.

I think that is the problem with cheap EPS blocks. The density isnt the same all the way through. which will obviously bring inconsistencies in production of these cheap imported boards.

I’m after a manoeuvrable mini mal for the two to three foot mush I surf 90 percent of the time. I don’t want a softie or a fish. Anyone got some good ideas. I weigh 78 kg and am 172 cm. Intermediate surfer. Been surfing for 35 years and getting worse. Ha
