Steve said the words are from Rimbaud's 'A Season In Hell' (Une Saison en Enfer). Someone made mention of Rimbaud in the comments after one of his articles so he picked up the ball and ran with it (Sporting metaphors get an extra zing when applied to 18th century French poets).
