Kosrae is one of the four states in the Federated States of Micronesia (Pohnpei, Yap and Chuuk are the others). It's got a couple of great righthanders on the NW coast near the airport. The main wave, in fact, was the wave that drew Allois Malfatani - one of the P-Pass pioneers - to Micronesia. He spotted it in a National Geographic in 1986 and 14 years later in 2000 went searching for it. The wave wasn't quite as good as he imagined but on his way home the plane island-hopped to Pohnpei and he found P-Pass. Cue cliche about history being made.
Anyhoo, Kosrae is the site of a new wave power plant built as a joint venture between the Kosrae governnment and Ocean Energy Industries. When finished the plant will provide the island with almost all its power needs (the shortfall will be made up with other renewables - solar etc.) With energy requirements as uncertain as they are this is a significant milestone for a small island state.
There's some good info about the project and the technology used here: https://oceanenergykosrae.com
