Car share with surfers from Brisbane to Sunshine or Gold Coast?

Hi everyone!

I would like to know (all is in the title) if it is common place in Australia (I've just arrived from France :) ) to do some carshare to share the fuel cost. I'd like to surf on the Gold Coast regularly on week-ends, and this solution could be very good for me (rather than carrying my surfboard in buses).

If someone is going by and is interested (for tomorrow or the day after tomorrow for instance), just let me know! Obviously I will share the gas cost with the driver, that is the deal!
