Please no. What an absolute gentleman AB was. I have been getting my boards from him for a long time and a nicer guy you would never meet. A sad day in surfing. Sympathies to family and friends.

hey thanks udo, I read the Nev link. was pissin' meself laughin, cos when AB burnt ya at Burleigh or Kirra, he did it with such love.

spoke to a few people this arv', but was already thinking about stuff, including the byrning(s) see above.

I think about AB boards, I can reflect a long time back about these, saw him extend Col Smith's channels/singles, into AB channels/singles, then along came thrusters and together they went NUCLEAR .

Now, I met a lotta shapers, and I've heard a lot of crap, shapers crap, surfers crap, me talkin' crap. But I will say, here on the record, every shaper on the planet wishes he could ride Al Byrnes boards.

It's that simple. When every shaper in the world was baking cakes, AB was a precision engineer. The PRECISION, by Eye . Mindblowing.

Before, during, he was working that stuff out. He was also going over the falls head first in the Pipeline Masters Final. If he made that drop, did he win Pipe Masters ?

So much stuff. An extraordinary man. Sometimes Saints and Angels walk amongst us.
