It seems with the rise of social media and reasonably accurate surf forecasting it's easy enough for people to move their schedule to be where theres surf brings an instant crowd to any known consistent surf breaks in the area. Now with swellnet and its competitor's websites putting on their Facebook newsfeed links to surfcams where theres waves at that very moment it encourages over crowding even further.
Whilst surfing is getting more popular attitudes in the water are getting worse forecasting and live cams on Facebook exacerbate this especially when every latte sipping hipster can tag all their mates then quickly drive to whatever lineup Swellnet or whomever says is good.
