On the weekend I watched this shark story on TV. Had a lot of footage down central coast way. They spoke about juveniles right up to the big ones. What surprised me about the footage is how little of the dorsal fin sits above the water despite the size of the thing its attached to below the water.
Anyway, this morning I was having a surf Sth of Stuey Creek and I got a little rattled by a shark. The fin was probably about 30cm out of the water and it was about 10m from me. I turned for the beach and indicated to a fella about 50metres away that I had seen a sharks fin and he said he had too seen a large fin too and we all (about 6) of us left the water.
Surfed for 30 years and never seen a fin as big so close. Being close to the creek and the coffee rock around that area Id suggest a bull shark but in my mind whatever sort of shark it was it was a pretty bloody big one!
