Recycling old westuits
Rip Curl will just throw it down the tip, but you'll have felt better cause you didn't throw into landfill yourself and Rip Curl will feel even better cause you believed they were going to recycle it and bought another wettie from them.
I contacted RC and their feedback was to hand it to a youth group etc. so I think I'll donate them to a local surf school. Like I said, I'd rather see them go to use than land fill or something.
I'm surprised there's a lack of neoprene recycling programs, I had a look around but couldn't find much.
But they have a recycling program, give it to them and they will freight to a thong making factory in China, or did they just put this on their website to make them appear a bit green?https://ripcurlplanet.com/rip-curl-rubber-the-environment.html
Why not just hang up the old suit on the wall next to the renovated retro board you just bought off ebay for way to much money.
@gunther and @Wharfjunkie
Thanks guys, not bad ideas! Just thought I'd see if anyone knew of any recycling programs or anything, but there's also a local surf school I might donate them to.
@Hako o hakonde
Well aren't you just the toughest keyboard warrior going around. Good for you.
Also, I think you mean way *too* much money.
Calm down cswells, Hako is harmless.
For what it's worth, I keep old wetties in the car and if I happen to meet someone in my travels up and down the coast that could do with a wettie in better repair than the one they have, i just offer it to them. Done that many times.
Hey crew,
Hope you guys got waves on the weekend.
I'm currently in the market for a new wetsuit, and realised I've got a couple of old RC wetties which would be beyond re-sale, and have been well-loved and well-used.
Does anyone know of any wetsuit recycling programs I could send them off to? Like I said, they're beyond resale and I'd rather see them recycled instead of nasty landfill or something.
Cheers,
Callum
