Tragic news from San Clemente this morning, with the passing of Woody - head of Security at the ASP/WSL.
Many people may not know him by name, but everyone who's watched a single heat of live competition in the last decade or two would have seen his goateed face with black wrap-around sunnies accompanying heat winners from the surf to the competitors area.
I only met him a couple of times in person but he was a nice bloke, always with a friendly smile.
RIP mate.
