Go back in time to see any dead musician live in concert...who do you see?

crg started the topic in Friday, 10 Mar 2017 at 04:00 pm

Inspired by watching the preview to Surfers the movie with Jimi Hendrix live...who would you go and see live? Seeing that Jimi piece just blows me away, as does footage of Stevie Ray Vaughn, but I think I'd have to choose a Bob Marley concert...just for the pure energy and emotion.
What's yours???

Well I missed Roy Buchanan years ago and I've regretted it ever since. Old Roy was pretty handy on his Tele, at least I caught Robin Trower ( still plucking ) back in the eighties, but I can't remember much of that night. Now days if any of the old legends come here I don't hesitate.

Pink Floyd did an outdoor concert in the UK just after the release of Wish You Were Here.
The band came on at sunset and had arranged for 3 Spitfires to barrel roll over the crowd and as the planes purred off into the setting sun the band started playing.

Jimi for sure, and Nirvana.

No dead members but Kyuss when they had the generator sessions in the desert would have been cool.

The Doors baby.

Had to google him (GG Allin)...yep back row for sure

Googled GG as well and it's not surprising he's not around any more..... Sort of lacked a positive outlook or did I miss something?

The Doors in their heyday would be worth time travelling for

Sounds just about perfect Guy,never got to see old Pink Floyd, reckon that would top my list

The Pink Floyd Experience (NZ cover band) are touring here in June 2017. This tour will be my 5th concert. Extremely good and I would rate equally with the last Roger Waters Wall Australian tour.

Glen Miller followed by Miles Davis and rounded off with Jaco Pastorious and Joe Zawinul. Finale by Holgar Czukay.
Questions?

Sooo many good suggestions! Davis and Monk for sure, Pastorius all the way. Nirvana...although I was lucky to be at their infamous Fishermans Wharf concert...pure mayhem! Interesting fact from that concert told to me by a member of the Johnny's who were opening...Kurt had to be shot full of adrenaline to get him on stage and was taken straight to hospital afterwards.

-johhny o'keefe at the stadium, rushcutters bay. the energy of those crowds looks phenomenal.
-nicky sianno djing at the gallery new york 1976

i've seen a few of the bands that have made the list -- gun club, cramps, x, birthday party. it's hard to be too nostalgic for some of those gigs.
