Myall Creek Massacre Memorial
This is always a special event where the decendants of both the perpetrators and the victims come together to remember. I can't make it this year but there's not much swell happening so if you are anywhere north of Newcastle it's a pretty easy drive.

My take on the massacre from 2006
Interesting it's part of our history that needs to be recognised theres names of individuals who have there names honoured in our history who have been heavily involved in the massacre of indigenous Australians.

Elders speak of
the regretful
interactions
between their
people and the
Europeans, the
most notable being
the Red Rock Massacre of the
1880s. Europeans are said to have chased
the Gumbaynggirr people from their camp
at the river to the headland, where many
innocent people lost their lives. Red Rock
is referred to as ‘Blood Rock’ by the Garby
Elders, who regard this as an extremely
sacred site and a place for reflection. A
memorial has been established on the
headland to mark the event and recognise
the brutality that occurred at the site.

Nothing wrong with a pack of sleezy, inhumane, cowardly lies, the 'colony' was founded on them!
It was cool. The response was a bit muted but it's a friggin' confrontational song and probably not what people were expecting over their Chardonnay on a Sunday arvo. Anyway it's always an interesting gig. An open mic with very variable performers. A bit weird sometimes but often the least polished are the most interesting. I will be playing a few over the next couple of weeks, there and at the Sugar Lounge in Manly. Not planning to break out Kilminister's Confession though.
So the Chardonnay socialists didn't join the chorus?
The recognition of these massacres has always been the battle of the indigenous people to bring to the attention of Australians who's view of history is that of what the blue bloods want them to think.
It's up to Aussies with a conscientious view not to do that of the left leaning political groups and fight there battle but to provide them with a platform and march in solidarity sometimes pushing too many issues waters down what your truely passionate about.
I think it was more shock than disagreement, wj. I got a couple of very positive comments. There was a bit of context too, in the sense that the previous performers had done some really laid back finger picking stuff so when I got up and started thrashing chords....
