Longboard to Lombok

Anyone taken a longboard (9'; 9'6-odd in a board bag I guess) to Lombok in the last couple of years by plane from Denpasar? 'Official' advice seems to be they won't take anything longer than 156 cm, which seems an I-don't-know-so-I'll-say-anything answer.

No specific knowledge of that route, but in general length restrictions are often related to the size of the cargo hold and what will physically fit (with everything else) given the dimensions of the hold. 156cm seems pretty precise for an I-don't-know-so-I'll-say-anything answer

I take your point, ojackojacko, but 156 cm is only 5'1" and even for a twin-prop that's pretty stingey. And discounting 98% of the market who aren't ultra-groms or pixies. I don't think I've had a 5'1" since I was 10.

yeah fair call. hopefully someone can give you some specific info -good luck with it

The flight from Rote to Kupang stipulated 5'6" recently so the boards had to go by ferry rather than on the flight. The rider is that the flight out was a bit of a lottery apparently with some people able to get longer boards on. It's Indo so who knows??

Red Kev, I've taken a big board (waveski) from Bali to Lombok a few times, but not since 2016. Back then Garuda had a jet every 2nd day that took big boards, and not on the other days. Look up the flights, the plane and the baggage allowance. Even for the jet, your board gets get bumped sometimes, in which case let them know at the lost baggage place a the ariport, leave your hotel name etc., and they'll get it to you. Sounds sketchy but its' fine

Thanks boater. Sounds like I just gotta turn up and see what happens. As cgrover says, it's Indo. It may not work perfectly, but it'll work in the end.
