Using a camera to film your session

At my local beach break, I can park in the car park and potentially use a camera to record my session. In the interests of seeing just how shit I am, and obviously getting better

I'd need a zoom. So I'm thinking of getting a mid priced camera that does video and has 30X zoom

Anyone else here do this? heard it helps a lot with learning, especially in getting advice and critique from others if they can't be there with you on the beach

Until Recently Id been surfing a fair bit with a guy that filmed his every session using a remote controlled camera that tracked his movements through the line up with a gps he had strapped to his arm.

He was getting critiqued by fellow surfers alright.
