PNG Best Time to Go/ Feedback

Went to Kavieng area in January 2006. Peak season I believe is similar to Hawaii, but the waves are much smaller of course. The surf spots in the area around Kavieng all break over shallow live coral, however they are not super heavy. A "fun" surf trip for intermediates unless you can score a big swell.

I did a trip to Kavieng a couple of years ago. Only had small waves but it is a great place to stay. Spectacularly beautiful, very chilled out and totally relaxing. Awesome potential if you did happen to score a quality swell. If you are more concerned with getting waves a boat trip is your best chance.

Thanks for the feedback. looking at PNG Explorer boat trip. I guess like most trips just have to be lucky with the swell. I imagine it would be pumping now with the swell that just hit Hawaii.
