Great Ocean Road surf

Planning a surf trip from Adelaide to Melbourne sometime before the end of the year, just wondering if theres anyone out there with some insight to when id get the best conditions in the second half of the year along the great ocean road?
I'm gonna be on a pushy with camp gear, so would to do it after winter cause I don't want to get rained on too much if i can help it. But wondering if I'll find too much wind during springtime?
Had heaps of fun surfing Kennetts and Wye in January this year and keen as to get back that way if conditions allow it.
