wave sizes are such a wank in the surfing industry try building a house to the specs we all use in surfing. Hawaiian sizes are simply an egocentric view of waves and the house would takeover the neighbors lawn. W ill continue to measure waves in Hawaiian sizes, i e measuring three times smaller than it is but i know its wrong and inaccurate.

I reckon SW WA is even worse.

I have a frothing hard charging friend that once referred to the waves being "a solid 4 foot aye, triple over head on the sets". I pull out the seven footer if he describes the waves as being anything more than 3 foot.

.... and at the other end of he spectrum Urbnsurf .... describing waves at 1-1.5 metres and I struggle to find anything above 2 foot in the online footage

I reckon its helped to discourage non surfers from starting. A radio or tv report of "Good sets to 3 foot" as we know, can be a cranking session. To anyone else, that just sounds like undersized, even embarrassingly small waves barely worth bothering with.
