15 minutes of fame or most embarrassing moment

I worked at jupiters casino from 86 ~ 90 as commissionaire of the concierge ( doorman ) l greeted many famous people from movie stars to politicians to underworld figures . My 15 minutes of fame and one of my most embarrassing moments was on greeting BoB Hawk ( when he was prime minister ) . I had opened his car door on many occasions as he didn’t mind a punt and on this visit there were no cameras present . Anyway I opened his door with “ good evening Mr Prime Minister and as i moved forward extending my hand to help him out , I slipped and my knee hit the door which as he was standing the top corner of the door hit him squarely in the middle of his chest and he dropped to the ground with me still clutching his hand . I had put Bob on his arse . I was very very apologetic and repeatedly expressing my apologies while looking up at his minders who were giving me the daggers . Behind me was the general manager of Hilton hotel and I wasn’t game to look in his direction . I got Bob to his feet and he was coughing a bit but managed to spit out “ she’s right Mark accidents happen “ i wanted the pavement to swallow me up and was expecting a dressing down by the bosses but it never happened . Bob usually tipped me on the way in as it’s good luck to tip the doorman ( so ive been told ) but not this time . He came out about 2 hours later and was in a filthy mood , heard he lost $12,000 . Anyway the porters and valet had a good laugh at me over the next few weeks . How many people can say they put Bob Hawk on his arse lol

Supa, you won't believe me, but I have met (and partied) with ...Kylie Minogue, The B 52's, Nirvana, James Brown, Prince, Mel Gibson, George Michael, INXS, Billy Idol, The Prodigy, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Jungle Brothers, Bon Jovi, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, FatboySlim, Carl Cox and many, many more I struggle to remember. Plus most local bands and entertainers too many to go through. I have many stories I could not repeat here.
I also knew most of the Melbourne Underbelly. Mick Gatto even wrote a few pages on me and our "interactions" in his autobiography.
But I never put Bob Hawke on his arse, that is an accomplishment.

Haha goofyfoot , it was a interesting job but stressful , had plenty of fringe benefits from restaurants , clubs etc etc , wage was pathetic tips were unreal . I worked as a brickies labourer on jupiters for 2 years and lucked into the job , long story . Met a lot of crooks and cops in that job , it was when queensland had the white shoe brigade . Edit sorry i missed adam12 post and thought goofy was talking to me , come on adam12 give us a snippet of a story , i bet ya got plenty .

Supa, I'll tell you one story that was pretty funny. Part of my business in the early 90's was as the Victorian division of a national touring company. So we had Del the Funky Homosapien booked for Hey Hey It's Saturday on the Friday night pre-filmed, and two club appearances on the Saturday. When we went to pick him up at the airport on the Friday afternoon he was so off his face they had to wheel him off the plane in a wheelchair. To this day I still don't know what he was high on. So we go straight to Channel Nine, he is the opening act, they had made a big set for him. My partner is feeding him coffees and trying to get him together for his (mimed) performance. So he goes on, he can't lip-synch, he's falling over, leaning on the set they built which is starting to topple. Pam Barnes, the shows producer comes over and whispers in my ear "Never ring me again". It's a disaster, they never screen his song. I want to kill him. So we get him to his motel telling him be ready for soundchecks tomorrow at 2pm. Come the next day we go to pick him up and he is not in his room, gone, no one knows where he is. He's booked to do two, two song shows at clubs in Melbourne, we are fucked. So my partner goes and gets this African guy we knew, Francis, who was a barman, who had never heard of Del the Funky Homosapien, dresses him up, shades and a hat, rehearses the songs and Francis the Funky Homosapien does the two shows. No one knew any different.
The actual guy I never saw again, he resurfaced in Sydney a week later, still don't know how he got there. Good times.

Ive already done my rockstar stories in the tunes thread other than that, only have a few pro surfer stories, don't think I've met any real big name celebrities, don't care much for most of them anyway.

Pretty sure Del fell off stage while performing at a festival a couple of years ago, fractured ribs and a punctured lung. Still got it.

Indo, dunno if being in the same room as Kurt is meeting him. Kurt didn't do meet and greets. Dave Grohl was a great guy though, had a big night with him at a nightclub I owned when they toured just before Kurt died (we did the after party).
