Beginner Surf Beach and Camping

Hey there, my 12 year old son is a beginner surfer and we are planning a weekend camp trip in NSW in the next few weeks. Would love to get recommendations on great camping spots near beaches that are good for learner surfers. We're in Sydney and happy to go North or South for up to three hours in the car. Thank you kindly.

Diamond head campground is great. It's just a basic beach break without the hype of more popular surf breaks = fewer crowds and you are not in anyone's way. Plenty of space for everyone and good for beginners. Very accessible and the campground is right on the beach.

Port Macquarie is also a good spot if you are after a more urban experience. Caravan park is right at the beach with surf at the front and you are also in town if you want to go out for lunches, dinners, etc.
