Yachtie Evac Help in Banyaks

Just throwing it out here if anyone has any good sailing contacts near Banyaks

My mate has had to basically abandon his catamaran in a Sumatran river near the Banyaks to medivac his wife to Medan. She's in a bad way currently.
He paid a guy to keep an eye on it but ..... yea. And it's not even moored properly and he had to bail with what they could carry.

Putting it out there to anyone who might be able to either go babysit it or even experience enough relocate it to a proper port.

Message me with any contacts

Terrible situation.
Maybe you could get in contact with a charter operator and see if they can put you in touch with someone in the area who can assist.
Hope things turn out alright for them.

Yeah contacting the surf camps or charter boats in the area would be the go.

Try the Brazilian owners of the boat Seriti at SurfBanyaks.com

Try the French land camp at the Bay of Plenty Lefts side of the bay.

Or Pinang Island crew.. AW

Update to this relevant one for anyone travelling to Banyaks this year.
Seems there is a really bad Malaria strain in the Banyaks currently. Couple of serious cases and a reported death (surfers).
Good news is our friend recovered (only just) and then another caught it on the return trip within days!

Take it seriously up there. Preventative drugs, if you get a fever get out and to help asap. Don't fxxx around.

Glad to hear your friend recovered. Heavy situation.

Yeah good to hear they are doing alright.

Assuming the issue has been on the land camps / when those on boat trips have gone ashore?

I assume if you're camped out behind the bay on a charter or yacht you're not immune to the risks. but i assume you'd be fine if spending the entire time anchored off treasures.
