Dead Whale Washed Up at 13th Beach

As some of you may be aware, there is a dead whale washed up on 13th Beach Vic. and there have been warnings posted not to surf there because of the increased likelihood of sharks in the area. Has anyone got information or an opinion on how far away from the whale carcass it would be considered safe to surf. My favorite place to surf is Point Impossible, which is about 8km from where the whale is. What do you reckon? Get in the water there or head further west?
