daily temperatures are taken in the shade ....correct ? why in the shade ?

They're actually taken in an instrument called a Stevenson Screen which is white and reflects away direct heat radiation from other outside influences. It's also placed so many metres above the ground to avoid radiation from the ground.

If measurements were taken without this you'd get results that wouldn't be comparable across a city/state/country as some would be in the shade, out in the sun, or half half as the day progressed.
