If you look at how Israel has responded since Oct 7 attacks, they've gone after one threat at a time, Hamas, then Hezbollah & it's infrastructure - then Syria fell and they took the Golan Heights and got rid of Syrian AA systems which cleared a path for their planes to take on Iran as they are doing. I think the Iron Dome is for defending against short range missiles from neighbouring countries/enemies.
Missiles from further away, such as from Iran, are defended against with a different defense system.

My understanding is that they have broken both international law, the very law that the USA were the main architects in developing after WW2 with the UN as well as their own national law.
