Yep, they're great too. Small wave boards and guns alike.

seaslug Wednesday, 8 Jun 2022 at 03:29 pm new

Thanks IB, spoiled for choices hey

Heard the new Pyzel quads are good too, haven't checked them out.

I'm definitely after something in fibreglass/G10

Beast!

My 8'6 lets me know exactly how much it would take to swing that thing around and motor into a wave. And how scary a wave it would take on.

Will never graduate to that class :-)

Bnkref Friday, 10 Jun 2022 at 07:39 pm new

Anyone know where that board is headed and what waves the owner has in mind? Absolute weapon.

Robwilliams Friday, 10 Jun 2022 at 08:01 pm new

Somewhere big and gnarly. No doubt. crew must be buzzing

keen for a 2nd hand DS if anyone sees one (udo!) Something around 6'10 - 7'6 in stock dims. got a trip to fiji in August planned and i want to be able to surf if its 6ft+. I dont think my current 6'8 x 18 7/8 x 2 1/2 will cut the mustard!

Island Bay Sunday, 12 Jun 2022 at 05:09 pm new

Udo will find you one :-)

Was thinking of selling my six, six but paddled out to Devlin Roses wake yesterday on it and jeez it paddles well and i might start riding it more often if i can stay off the booze and smokes.Seems like such a great design looking it up and down feeling the rails. It suits jakes more than my rasta torus twin which i really only bought for indo small days but surf it at a few two to three foot waves around here.

Andy P...go a custom D.S. with your choice of Fin plugs
A one of Expense ...a Board for life..
Has anyone ever seen one in 2 pieces ?

groundswell Sunday, 12 Jun 2022 at 06:11 pm new

no but while paddling in from jakes on a five foot day i was near the dangerous end section called the Thud paddling into the next break and a set came and cleaned me up onto dry reef...i thought it would have snapped but no sign of any dings even.

Good advice, Udo.

It's a board for life - or as close to that as you'll ever get. Yet not expensive.

udo Sunday, 12 Jun 2022 at 07:20 pm new

I'm not sure of the $ cost - Lets say $1100 with Colour and you keep it 10yrs = Top Value.

Andrew P Sunday, 12 Jun 2022 at 07:28 pm new

Yeah mate just running out of time! Might go down for a visit this week and check out the stock boards. The 6’10 x 20 1/2 x 3 1/4 seems pretty good to me. I’m a futures man too.

Bnkref Sunday, 12 Jun 2022 at 08:14 pm new

Andrew P I’ve got a 6’10, stock dims and 48.5L. Hasn’t been getting much use so I was thinking of possibly offloading it (I want to get a 6’6 DS to replace my current Dylan 6’6 step up) but I rode it yesterday at Bells. Solid and raw and it went really well so I’m going to have to hold on sorry.

I was looking on his website yesterday and it looks like there’s DSs in stock so you might get one standard dims without any wait.

Really strong and well built boards. You should get a lot of life out of one.

Mcface Sunday, 12 Jun 2022 at 10:01 pm new

Seeing all the comments here - if anyone in the Sydney area wants to do a board swap, I'd be keen to swap my 6'6 (38.5L) for either a 6'8 or the slim 6'10 (43.5L)

Love my DS but needs a couple extra inches to get what I want out of it.

My mate has one like that in those dims (6'8). Loves it.

Island Bay Friday, 22 Jul 2022 at 05:44 pm new

Heck yes, that's some clearance.

Here's another bloke having a good cleanout. Maybe he scared the wits out of himself last swell and is calling it a day with big waves.

Could be right IB, but he sounds willing and has a quiver to match. The first one has a repaired ding from a broken leggie at Jaws.

Or just realized that Port Stevens is more 6'0 territory ? Lot of money spent to learn that lesson....

Howdy guys
I have a 6"10 - 20 1/2- 3 1/4- 48L DS with 5 fin futures set-up and rear deck pad I am about to list on gumtree and just thought I would see if anyone here wanted first chop.
Pretty much brand new bought it for an Indo trip and only got it out of the bag once and then realised that I was still able to paddle and wasn't as decrepit as I thought I was.In perfect condition except for barely perceptible depression in front of the pad.
More than happy to send photos if you are interested.
Located Mid North Coast.

$1000

That’s the cost of a brand new board shipped to Victoria.

Bnkref Wednesday, 31 Aug 2022 at 01:45 pm new

I picked up a new 6'6 DS when I was visiting up Ballina way last week. Looks amazing and feels great under the arm. Can't wait to get it wet.

Bnkref Wednesday, 31 Aug 2022 at 01:47 pm new

I've got a quad set up for my 6'10 DS but for those with smaller DSs, do you prefer it as a thruster or quad?

I've always gone a thruster for my standard step up board.

freeride76 Wednesday, 31 Aug 2022 at 01:55 pm new

I've only ever ridden mine as quads and that feels so good I've never gotten around to trying them as Thrusters.

Bnkref Wednesday, 31 Aug 2022 at 02:25 pm new

Thanks FR. Good to know. I'll try it as a quad first.

I picked it up on Thursday and went past your local point (I was up from Melbourne and have never surfed that stretch before). Saw a nice head high plus swell and only 10 or so on it. Had a nasty ear infection and was with my heavily pregnant wife who I'd dragged around all day in the car after an early flight so I had to sit it out. Killed me!

freeride76 Wednesday, 31 Aug 2022 at 02:34 pm new

thurs was fun.

I run mine with EA (Erik Arakawa) quads.

Bnkref Wednesday, 31 Aug 2022 at 03:22 pm new

Ta. I've got a set of them for my 6'10.

G'day John, the DS loves that stuff ... ive had webby lean rails and tail out on 2 x DS ... have surfed a 6'11 at large slabby stuff and tombies... goes insane. Nice set of fins goes a long way IMO

G'day cycd, what fins do you use?

Hi Pat, EA quads and thrusters . Like the DS as a quad. I am also using the KRYPT powerdrives and have been testing them for about 2 months now in waves up to 6ft . Loosen the board up really nice. Am yet to use them in critical waves

Thanks cycd.

Anymore feedback on the Krypt's? Used them in critical waves yet? They look interesting.

Hi again Pat,

Yes ive used them in waves up to about 8ft/triple OH now. I like them, they work well. Just take a bit of getting used to as they kind of make the board pivot (feels that way to me) as you drive through a bottomturn/turn. They also seem to hold speed as you apply pressure through turns. They are good in the barrel, mold into the face etc
