Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.

Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.

@JF That’s Gary at his peak I reckon.
(middle of the road one chord really)

seeds Wednesday, 31 Jul 2024 at 11:03 pm new

Serious Talking Heads vibes on that QOTSA song!
Don’t you reckon the Pillars sound too familiar with Phil’s voice? I’ve never heard of them but knew the singer instantly.

basesix Wednesday, 31 Jul 2024 at 11:02 pm new

nothin' middle of the road about one chord done well @seeds ; )
(reckon you said a similar thing to me about a 12-bar once)

- & that bonzer u scored looks the goods

seeds Wednesday, 31 Jul 2024 at 11:26 pm new

Yeah that was good!
Phil sounds like Cornell needing Fisherman’s Friends.
Not an insult btw (it sounds Bonza)
edit. I’m sending that to my guitarist son who loves Dimebag.

@truebluebasher alerted SN crew to a band, Mr Chrisy Mertas (other than a jumble of merry christmas, I have no idea.. any thoughts, Kohn Slorence?) - these young blokes are a whack of fun, Chats-ish, but like their mates Bad//Dreems, they play to their strengths REALLY well. And they are from King Stingray's hood in East Arnhem.

Ryan Sage has one of the best record shops in Aus. In Darwin. He'll chat, recommend, send you an invoice and post anywhere in Aus. And he has access to Mr Chrisy Mertas vinyl which they only press a few of at a time..

@seeds, this is the FREE festival, I know we can't go, but the bands on it will plush out your algorithm.

Anyone overseas, google-earth Nhulunbuy, Gove, or Hindle footy oval, where the festival is. Then zoom out.. an epic part of the world doing really relatable things in a really healthy, tight-knit community.

I think KS is playing here Saturday.

on tuesday, I delayed my 42 min drive to work (country drive through forest, so you can time it to the minute) till the last minute, watching disappointing chopes. This song came onto jjj during a long, dodgy stretch of road. Instantly transported to 90s space-racing game wipEout, and I was dodging potholes and roos like a mofo! (Canadian, bbno$) - got to work 30 seconds early!

Pop Down Friday, 9 Aug 2024 at 10:21 am new

Hello Base6

It sounds like U have a magical trip to work !

Can't think of ANY radio station that would play THAT song , in the morning .

Great dodgeEM music !

basesix Friday, 9 Aug 2024 at 11:06 am new

hey PoppaD! In da haaaaaussss..

so here's a question.. a little faster than 120 beats per minute gets our heads nodding with an urgency. Why?
Is it that an inherent double heartbeat rhythm is 120bpm. or the back and forth of a clock pendulum, which is also 120bpm. Both? None? Walking pace? why?

A bit faster, like 128bpm, we feel an excitement, 110bpm, we can still head nod, but it's more a calm groove. Polkas and folk dancing plays with this, too, so it's and old thing, at least as old as clocks, anyway.

.

Here's 3 infectious slightly-faster-than-120bpm songs.

.

just to illustrate, here's another bbno$ song, at 106bpm..

Pop Down Friday, 9 Aug 2024 at 11:03 am new

A tricky question Base 6 .

Guessing 120 beats per minute , is the Rhythm of Life .

Fires me Up :) !

^^ a few to catch up on guys.

Night out in Toowoomba yesterday. Cool little venue.
Young local band playing originals. Appears they’re heading into heavier material.
