New Victoria restrictions

Supafreak started the topic in Sunday, 2 Aug 2020 at 03:15 pm

Just watched the press release from Dan Andrews and I really feel for how victorians are going to once again pay for others stupidity. Not sure how they are going to police the 1 hour exercise policy but a trip down the coast for a surf could be costly. I understand these new restrictions are mainly Melbourne suburbs and I’m very grateful for where I live NSW Qld border. When we were in shutdown there was no time limit for our exercise thank god as a 3 hour surf kept me sane after losing my job.

STOP PRESS! I cant believe I missed this quote from "VicLocal" earlier.
"He's got to be a Hawthorne or Melbourne FC supporter."
Hawthorn with an "e"???
Thats a colour tint, not an AFL team.
I Reckon VL isn't even from Victoria let alone the SurfCoast.
VicLocal my arse! hahaha
Probably a BOT

Vic Local Monday, 19 Oct 2020 at 06:47 pm

Simply an auto-correct views. It's also a suburb in Brisbane mate. Don't get your knickers in a knot mate.

WarriSymbol Monday, 19 Oct 2020 at 07:19 pm

To visit the TullaTub you would have to either live or work within 25km of the site, is that right?

indo-dreaming Monday, 19 Oct 2020 at 07:39 pm

Yep that's correct you can only go surf it if within 25km from the pool.

Still havent surfed it, was booked in then Covid hit, at least by the time it opens back up the water will be warmer.

Dx3 Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 12:17 pm

Update from Dan today on the "ring of steel" - it's expected to be gone sometime in November. No confirmed date yet but one to watch.

Brace yourselves. The Melbourne crew are coming.

Vic Local Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 12:44 pm

It's going to be mayhem. The Regional Vic tourism and hospo industry is going to go from 10% to 200% overnight.
Please don't complain if your latte doesn't arrive in 4 minutes like it normally does.

Dx3 Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 01:50 pm

And don't be that asshole who toots at other drivers as they head down the Torquay esplanade trying to find a car-park, dead give-away you're a blow-in.

vicbloke Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 03:54 pm

if there ever was a good time to be a Melbourne surfer in lockdown then 2020 would be the year. SC swellnet avg for July was 3.23 & Aug was 3.06. Sept was 3.43 and so far Oct is 2.79 with a very ordinary week coming up. still bored VL

ringmaster Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 04:22 pm

When you live here those numbers mean jack shit. Had plenty of great surfs over that period when conditions changed throughout the day as they nearly always do or the report wasn't spot on. Just gotta be at the right bit of coast at the right time. Swellnet doesn't give you that info luckily.

But yeah.......a great year to be a Melbourne surfer for sure!

1 person over your house for grand final, $5000 fine each. 1000 at the races, no problem! Fuck this government

Bnkref Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 07:42 pm

That's a complete joke. What a ridiculous decision.

goofyfoot Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 07:46 pm

Geek nothing surprises me with Andrews in charge anymore. Just another reason the blokes a fricken parasite

lostdoggy Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 07:49 pm

I can visualise "10,000 groups of 10" people from 2 households + babies descending on swan st if the Tigers win.

(you can meet in a group of up to ten people from a maximum of two households outdoors in a public place to socialise (children under 12 months of age not included in the limit).

Stok Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 08:18 pm

Fuck that Cox Plate stuff is annoying.

I'm not fan of racing or gambling. Can't believe they kept running non stop either.

billythekid Tuesday, 20 Oct 2020 at 11:18 pm

totally agree on forecast numbers being wrong or at best misleading...so many days either the size is wrong, the winds wrong, the swell direction is wrong, or a combo of all three - shit even tides are wrong - it barely means anything

Dx3 Wednesday, 21 Oct 2020 at 08:58 am

Whilst they have now reversed the Cox Plate decision, the optics of that initial call to allow owners to attend this weekend has got to be one of the biggest 'what the hell are they thinking' moments yet. Sure it might be safe enough with the right plans in place, but that is 1000% beside the point. They are demanding we all to stick to the restrictions or risk big fines, then one of the first exemptions they make is for owners of a horse.

Really does speak to the idiots in our state government.

Blowin Wednesday, 21 Oct 2020 at 11:05 am

The Cox plate farce illustrates perfectly how detached the governing class is from the reality faced by the electorate. The fact that they weren’t even aware of how obviously it revealed the two tiered society they rule for speaks volumes.

You can guarantee that there’d be still those amongst the government and the socialites who still fail to grasp the problem with having one set of rules for the public and another for themselves.

The same crew can’t see a problem between allowing Tom Hanks to fly into Australia whilst a daughter is refused across the Queensland border to be with her dying father.

AndyM Wednesday, 21 Oct 2020 at 11:24 am

Just remember Blowin, if you don’t have money, it’s nobody’s fault but your own.

Stok Wednesday, 21 Oct 2020 at 11:25 am

Agreed Blowin.

Covid's been a real expose of the differences in the class nature of society, locally and globally.

Nick Bone Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 12:41 pm
GuySmiley Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 12:48 pm

Nick, that new link you posted above is untrue. I heard a senior police officer from VicPol on the radio this morning categorically denying police use drones over houses like that. In parks and in public streets to help manage protests and the like yes but not over private property as suggested in the 9 news article. More bullshit pain and simple.

Nick Bone Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 01:17 pm

Haha. What a classic media shit stir. Well played!

So hypothetically, if I got busted with people over via a police drone, what would happen to Mr Popo who categorically denied it? Categorically lied? He wouldn’t get in shit yet I still would I presume?

GuySmiley Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 02:04 pm

Nick I’m only reporting what I heard on radio. That senior VicPol officer did say if they suspect there’s an illegal GF gathering they would knock on the door to confirm.

Blowin Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 02:14 pm

So are crew in Strathdownie liable for a knock on the door if they have a couple of dozen crew over for a GF BBQ in the back yard ?

What a shit show.

loungelizard Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 03:07 pm

"a senior police officer" well, there you go then. like the boss of vic police who cant remember what eccles the senior public servant (who had "forgotten" making the call until phone records proved it) said to him a minute before the vicpol guy rang someone else and said "my advice is private security are doing it" lying c***** the lot of them

GuySmiley Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 03:35 pm

Let’s see shall we; if drones are used over private property I’m sure the tabloid press and the LNP here in Victoria will all over it screaming for resignations and sackings. Just like every other day in 2020.

My multi for the GF is drones will not be used over houses, Geelong by 36, the little master to kick 3 and Dangerfield to win the Norm Smith.

Vic Local Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 03:55 pm

My multi for GF day is Tiger by 6 goals, no new covid cases, and The Liberal Party will whinge like Cats fans after losing the GF.

GuySmiley Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 05:19 pm

Ha, use your 4th finger Vic

Vic Local Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 05:30 pm

Does there need to be 4 in a multi? Shows how much I'm into online gambling / pissing away the disposables to a multinational betting behemoth based in a tax haven.

Blowin Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 05:49 pm

GuySmiley Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 05:53 pm

Sounding like info there VL ... bahahahahahaha

Blowin Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 06:26 pm

Fingers crossed that Vic isn’t back into lockdown.

geek Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 07:06 pm

We never left lockdown blowin! Current restrictions still harsher than any other state had ever been

D-Rex Thursday, 22 Oct 2020 at 07:15 pm

Today's stats show only northern suburbs islamic schools (and their associated families) are a risk so any extension of lockdowns to the entire metro area on Sunday would be farcical. BTW lighten-up Laborites - death threats to cafe owners and staff because they are trying to survive are not on.

Then again the Ms just finished a couple of hydro setups and maybe it was the drugs squad noticing increased electricity usage and checking out our strawberries and lettuce.
