Fitzroy, Oh do tell us how Australians can get to Indonesia to go surfing? There's exemption for international travel out of Australia but going surfing ain't one of them. To get to Indo for surfing, you would need to falsify your travel permit application both in Australia and Indonesia and then get a flight via multiple cities.

If you are serious about going to Indo this off season, i have the agent details that most of the charter boats/resorts and lots of surfers including Kelly are using, i dont want to put too much info here but nowhere near as expensive as some prices that were thrown around here a while back.(or what a resort was charging)
The quarantine on return would be the killer though, if it's still the same by next season i seriously think i & family will have too do it, need to make it two months at least to make it worthwhile though, the longer your planned trip the better chance you have of Aust government also letting you out.
You've just alluded to it VL. You find out the conditions of entry to Indo. You find out the conditions to exit Australia. You then work out the plan, even if that means falsifying doc's. It may surprise you that people actually do that successfully and relatively easily. I have two friends that have been over there for 2 months now and are in no hurry to get home.
