Does infection-acquired immunity outperform vaccines?

The immunity generated from an infection was found to be “at least as high, if not higher” than that provided by two doses of an mRNA vaccine, the authors wrote.

While Murray and Wachter agreed that vaccination remains the safest route, having a past Covid infection should at least be considered in policymaking decisions going forward, such as vaccination requirements, they said. https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/natural-immunity-protective-… CDC still recommends getting booster even if having prior infection , wait 3 months but you could stretch it out to 6-8 months……..depending on your age bracket and overall health why would you ? They still have a one size fits all mentality it seems .

yeh nah

Well, while we usually are not in agreement, we certainly are on this post. I would add that if the quote went "if you are pro-vax, then you are absolutely pro-mandate," I'd have the same reaction. "yeh, nah"
That guy does come off as a "fuckwit."

Imagine being this far into the covid malarkey, having access to the world-wide internet, twitter files and all the data from other countries (same virus, same “vax”) and most importantly being in touch with reality and what you can see and experience with your own eyes and ears…. and your mind has not changed.
Even if you know psychology, human nature and human history, it is truly mind boggling.

"Does infection-acquired immunity outperform vaccines?"

interestingly, way way back when... crew were sneaking into indo on a kelly slater pass....

so way back...

germany, those considerably conservative by nature country folk, who don't mind a bit of cancel culture themselves... and were indulging in heavy handedness raiding doctors and stuff...

were one of the first to recognise a covid infection as being just as good / better in 'stopping transmission' of covid in terms of travel...

and allowed people who could prove covid infection in the prior 3 months to travel freely

it's alnost like they actually understood 'the science' or something...

I’m thinking of the front line medical crew like nurses and paramedics plus firefighters & teachers that got covid and survived before vaccines were distributed then lost their jobs if they refused vaccination. It’s almost like natural immunity was a bad word in the early days.

It’s not about what side you’re breads buttered on, is it. It’s about what deplorable ideals you’ll overlook to support a Covid stance .

the funny thing is... that's not haha funny... about covid, vaccines, and immunity... especially in the early days...

is that many people were 'asymptonmatic' or barely had a sniffle. and the machine went hard on this asymtonmatic line and that we must get tested, tested, tested!

now aside from the hysterics and craziness of the time, and how much money and resources was designated to this - especially in australia... (and how much money was made by some...)

diversions aside... back to your point, imagine how many people, especially from the front line you point out, contracted covid and were totally unaware or ignored it? ...possibly still blissfully unaware to this day... and it was actually natural immunity that 'saved' them in following waves...

now the machine likes to attribute all this 'saving' to vaccines and their exceptional decisive proactiveness (hello dan andrews)

when actually, the virus could very well have worked it's way througout the community - 'naturally'.... unbeknown to anyone and all involved...

I know this is most definitely the case in indonesia, where vaccinated rates were super low, and there was obvious and un-ignoreable waves of 'the flu' running through society...

now, my going back over all this isn't to slam dan andrews, his lockdowns, and his totally over the top police state...

but to raise the question... how much did the vaccines actually achieve?

when certain african countries had near to zero vaccination rates, and countties like indonesia and india had very low vaccination rates... yet the much touted doom didn't unfold...

and now, all our 'saving' is attributed to vaccines...

there's some great psychology written about how people across classes, cultures, and careers 'attribute' their successes... with massive differences emerging...

and, there's some great psychology (and science) to come about covid and our 'successes' one day too...

maybe...

if the machine can ever get back on track...

sypkan Monday, 20 Feb 2023 at 02:19 pm new

unfortunately, a lot of it we will never know, even if the machine gets back on track

but that wayward attributing will continue

that, is without a doubt!

It’s something I’ve often thought about . How do the authorities know that the vaccines have saved at least xxx million people ? How can it be put solely down to the vaccines ? I’ve no doubt the vaccines have saved many people but I don’t understand how the authorities come to their conclusion’s on who and how many have been saved . With new information coming forth just recently from scientists in Australia, claiming that some have a protein that is attributed to them not being infected with covid it puts another question on how many the vaccines saved . https://www.axios.com/2023/02/10/australian-study-receptor-blocks-covid…

Here's a few facts:

- If your view on an opinion, which you have no experience in, is based upon listening to fringe dwelling commentators, it's extreme.

- If that view turns out to be right, and the collective of experts got it wrong, that's nothing more than a coincidence. It doesn't make you special, and everyone else sheep, in the same way that if someone wins the lotto, they're not playing the statistics and beating the system, they just happened to pick the right numbers.

- If you feel that conspiracies are becoming true, and you're seeing a pattern, you're just walking down a path which leads away from reality. Again - you're not special, you're no different than the rest of us. We're not asleep and you're not on a higher plane of living. You've just stumbled along a well beaten path down a rabbit hole which has been crafted to make it seem like you're discovering secret 'truths'.

Expert$ didn’t get it wrong. They lied. Big difference

Stok Monday, 20 Feb 2023 at 04:37 pm new

I think you're being fed spoonfuls of 'they lied', and you're taking that at face value.

No one is denying that the messaging around certain things was not rock solid, that assumptions were made when not all information was available. That some information was not presented to the public in an effort to provide a clear stance of leadership.

But saying they all lied and disregarding it all is just naive.

Weird way to say they lied. Almost political

When Fauci was being interviewed and he said when you’re vaccinated you become a dead end for the virus, was that misinformation or just a case of his messaging wasn’t rock solid ?

Just an assumption according to AndyM and Stok.

No harm done apparently

Stok Monday, 20 Feb 2023 at 06:50 pm new

Burleigh and Supa you two need to put on the big boy pants and understand the world isn't simple.

Come to terms with the fact that Fauci was saying what he thought was the best thing to say at the time, given the information he had. He's not an evil villain who sold his soul to big pharma. There's no exciting back story here.

He's just a public servant who's worked his way up the chain and who, like everyone else does from time to time, made an error of judgement once more information came to light.

Much like RBA Governer Philip Lowe saying interest rates won’t rise.

Stok Monday, 20 Feb 2023 at 07:08 pm new

Both Lowe and Fauci have to face up to the media.....and literally be the faces of organisations which are struggling internally.

Easy to hate....easy to distrust. Are they incompetent, are they evil? Depends how rational you are.

True Supa, it is weird I extract some level of entertainment from responding to this thread. Can't explain it.

Still, it's a pittance of a weirdness compared to the need to post articles, twitter links and other (mostly USA realted) clickbait in a never ending attempt to show how covid was a lie, or whatever.

Clearly he was told by the secret board of all mRNA vaccine CEOs, who decided that lying to the public that the vaccines will stop transmission will induce maximum profit.
