Um hello its called Job keeper people still have a job but its basically on pause so they get paid benefits to get them through,

Were you asleep during Covid?

Did you work it out yet indo ? I will help you out , there is more people receiving benefits now than before covid, lowest unemployment in nearly 50 years has a catch , see if you can work it out . Oh and BTW covid isn’t over , it’s just ramping up again .

indo-dreaming Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 08:16 am new

As we all know the important figure is jobs available that are way up and have been up for a while even before Covid levels were healthy, as we all know business are screaming out for workers.

We just went through a 100 year event that was predicted to see us hit by a deep dark recession and you Labor nongs are still whinging, you will never be happy because you're a bunch of marxist.

Some of these links they have to communism/socialism/marxism and other far left ideals and organisations is down right scary, why the hell aren't these big news stories???

I doubt people would vote Labor if they knew what these peoples true ideals are based on.

Progressive left , not for me but hardly scary... Reds under beds.... Go grab a pillow Indo and Opt.
However calling bullshit unless it was when they were young in student politics. Makes the young liberals look feral still with the racist classist bullshit they get up to.

What is scary is the infiltration this mob has in the LNP.... Actually LNP is just it's political wing.

And their plan:

Now that's scary and what should be in headlines... See ya Medicare, ABC etc.
They have already started on list.

Outline the LNP economic plan then. Tell us what your party is going to do, if they’re going to do anything at all. Because Frydenbergs plan is another short term sugar hit with no long term plan.
So again please address which part of the economy the LNP are going to address

It doesn't happen often, Labor winning an election, but one of the delights is watching conservatives squirm and bleat and lie and eat themselves alive in the lead up to the loss.
The Fabians, "oh my God!", "Why isn't anyone screaming about this!", "they're....socialists!"
Hilarious.

We were recession free for 27+ years the majority of this time has been under LNP, we have just gone through a one in one hundred year event that was forecast to see us in a deep dark recession, but we have come through things with a fairly health economy, record low unemployment and high rate of available jobs, not to mention very low Covid death rate compared to most of the world.

The proof is in the pudding, you can vote for the proven government who has gotten results or you can flip a coin on some inexperienced woke marxist, just for the hell of it.

Good luck with that one.

Most countries across globe had been recession free for same time frame except for GFC....
Lucky we had coalition in power then... !!! Oh wait....
LNP rack up trillion dollar debt with not much to show for it... Better economic managers.... Haha.

old-dog Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 11:42 am new

I wonder how much debt. Labor would have racked up if Albo had been in for the past two years, Everything Scomo did Albo said wasn't enough and was screaming that the dole should be doubled permanently. Why would anyone work in aged care for $22 an hour or any low paid or part time job when you could be on the Labor couch potato play station team. Where I work we are already finding it near impossible to find people willing to get off their fat arses and work for low wage jobs. All they want is a signature on their Centrelink diary.
If you have nothing to lose you may as well hold your hand out and throw the dice with the most left leaning Labor leader in our history. Just don't complain when the wheels fall off. All this from an ex rusted on Labor man. Cheers.

lostdoggy Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 11:59 am new

Why would anyone work in Aged care for $22 an hour? not sure, because that is ridiculously underpaid for the work it is.

indo-dreaming Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 12:06 pm new

Yeah people are tripping if they think Labor wouldn't have racked up more debt and our freedoms would have been restricted even further.

And no sorry Andy that's not true it was "the developed world’s longest uninterrupted economic growth streak."

Here's Antony Green's election calculator: have a play, you can set the swing one way or the other and see how the result changes:

I do note surfcoast area is Corangamite and is a marginal electorate. Goes some way to explain all the new sports ovals, council buildings, surf clubs - not complaining, let's have a swimming pool too! I mean, why not?

Bit disappointing to see the political debate here has descended to calling others illiterate imbeciles and suggesting people with opposing views are meth users.

velocityjohnno Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 01:48 pm new

Oh yes, it's also been called now, 21 May. If that hasn't been mentioned before. I'm having fun putting in the custom swings now, most recent newspoll one shows big ALP win and our local seat going 6.6% which is almost (?) safe.

Now I remember last time with incoming ALP government and then the fun & games that resulted (50,000 iirc new public servants as the opening volley); the most stark moment for me was at eldest's Yr 10 speech night, the successful alumni guest speaker said "Don't bother trying to start a business, just work for the gov," which was the zeitgeist of the times. But I also remember Tony's 5 point plan, and the employment part I thought "oh that's good, create all those jobs in private enterprise," but what I didn't realise was that 2/3 of those jobs were for people who weren't yet in the country at the time of that particular election! Got to watch my kids and Ms working in those environments as well, hmmmm. The eldest was also in the situation prior to last election where it looked like they would have to compete with international students who would be on proposed Ausgov scholarships for regional Uni places, that one had me scratching my head because it seemed an arse about way to help local kids.

Edit: the most immediately massive move from last ALP win, for me, though I was yet to realise or require it, was widening of approval of drugs on LSDP. Literally a lifesaver. Can it be argued they are better in health policy? What a huge, positive change for so many people in that decision.

velocityjohnno Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 01:40 pm new

Hey Arcadia, I'm trying!

oxrox Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 01:47 pm new

Saying labor wouldn't have racked up as much debt as Libs is a bit far fetched. Massive debt was the only way out.
Pretty sure what Indo said about the longest uninterrupted economic growth in the developed world is true too.

velocityjohnno Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 01:57 pm new

More playing with swing calculator: some of the recent Newspoll/Morgan swings, both Federal and via State breakdowns, are absolutely enormous.

I think its more a question of how and where the public funds, present and future, were allocated to accumulate that debt.

All politicians lie it's part of the gig and all parties have factions and bitching and backstabbing and those that are trying to claw their way to the top and those that end up getting spat out often do what they can on the way out to bring others down or get some cheap pay back.

Is it half the Liberal party, off course that it complete BS and your dreaming if you think Labor are any better, the whole Krudd/Gillard years was like a b-grade drama series and we only saw it the other week with the whole Kimberley Kitching thing, possibly the infighting and bullying even contributed to her death to some unknown degree.

I know you think Labor's shit doesn't stink but I'm sorry to say it does, and real bad too.

Sinking to even lower levels there mate. Sharri Markson Murdoch hit piece, grubby. Up there with bugging dead girl's phone by the dirty digger and his sock puppet. Quite disgusting really and then repeated... Typical Murdoch style narrative setting.
Politicians may lie, but Morrison is next level, he is a fake and it seems quite an horrible individual. Loves Australia, but fucks off to Hawaii when it's burning for a holiday, then tried to lie about it.. Too many other examples to list...
Anyway I'm done. I still reckon lnp will win election, due to media bias, Qld and Palmer, but we are headed to a dystopian style USA society real quick.

batfink Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 04:29 pm new

I’ll have to limit my exposure to this forum for the next 6 weeks. I tend to stay away anyway, come in occasionally to see what’s up and can’t believe the general level of debate, in the sense of ‘could this be more reflexive and uninformed’?

I see above a poster saying Labor has no plan. I know they have genuine policies, they aren’t too hard to find. On the other hand can anyone enlighten me as to any actual policies the LNP have?

And I should warn you, ‘a gas-led recovery’ is not a plan and it isn’t a policy. Apart from being the exact opposite of what we should be doing, it is also nothing more than a motherhood statement.

Anyone? Actual policy? Seriously, I’d like to know. And if they do, why have they spent the last 3 years doing nothing, enacting nothing. Problems with chewing gum and walking at the same time?

Supafreak Sunday, 10 Apr 2022 at 04:45 pm new

Watching ABC news today and listening to different journalists, they all basically said that LNP ( Scott Morrison Party ) had no plans for new policies and that they were happy to just keep things as they are . I find it interesting that Andy M thinks LNP will win and Indo D believes LNP will probably lose .
