Uploading Photos

Sheepdog started the topic in Wednesday, 12 Mar 2014 at 10:15 am

Att/ Thermalben. Ben, somewhere in the vast forum area, you or one swellnets staff, briefly explained how to upload a photo and attach to one's post. The last uploaded photo I've seen, I think was of popout at cronulla in "Undergound heroes" . I was hoping you'd be kind enough to repeat the steps in laymans terms ( when you have the time), so regular punters may be able to enhance this forum experience for all, keeping within the code of conduct rules, of course.
Cheers....

We highly recommend 'imgur' for image hosting (https://imgur.com/). You don't even need to register with them (although if you do, it'll help you find previously uploaded files).

Simply upload a photo via the 'Computer' link on the RH column, follow the instructions and then copy the URL provided under 'Direct Link (email & IM)'.

Then in a forum thread, wrap the image URL with image tags, ie and .

For example, https://_______

(Thermalben using the "chiefs" voice) - "What part didn't you understand, dog?"

( Sheepdog using his best Maxwell Smart voice). " Well , chief, the part after ' we highly recommend"... "

;) Nah, thanks ben...... I'll have a look.....

Do you reckon that you could somehow make it easier to put photos on Swellnet ?

I’ve tried that Imgur deal , it’s fucked and I’m not going near it. There’s only an imgur app which I don’t want to join.

Cheers.

Female white throated tree creeper I think .

You’re on the East coast Ralph ?

Better having one of them at your window than a male soft shoed yardcreeper . At least the tree creeper doesn’t snow drop.

Ralph Sunday, 17 Mar 2019 at 01:07 pm new

Yes is a tree creeper :). Funny name hey

nope, still a computer idiot

factotum Sunday, 17 Mar 2019 at 04:47 pm new

Goofyfoot, you upload your pic on imgBB and then go to the embed code 'BBCode full linked' and select. Copy the code and paste it in the thread.

I love that spot !

factotum Sunday, 17 Mar 2019 at 05:55 pm new

That is such a great photo. And not just 'cos it's me! Barrelled from take-off to ledge.

Insane timing and great composition.

Taken on old school film by a regular contributor on here.

I didn't know about it till I was overseas and someone said it was the WOTD on a newish website run by an old ex-SA boy.

I remember I was a bit concerned because back then photos of that spot were never in the media pretty much, and I was named in full! As well as the photog (though he was under his nickname). At least the spot wasn't mentioned though the state was.

I've cropped out the names here, obviously.

Happy daze.

Actually, I would love to get a print of it if you've still got it around somewhere, YS. Catch ya on the Book.

Awesome photos folks.

yorkessurfer Sunday, 17 Mar 2019 at 07:44 pm new

Ah that old transparency factotum. It was taken on Kodachrome 64 slide film which was something I liked to play around with in my photography days. It was tricky to use. Light and exposure settings had to be perfect to get a good shot.

Purchase of the film included prepaid prossessing and it had to be sent away to Kodak in a small yellow envelope that came in the box.

It was exciting waiting the few weeks for the slides to arrive in the mail not knowing what sort of images you had taken.

https://medium.com/people-gadgets/the-gadget-we-miss-kodachrome-color-s…

That slide and my others are still around and in safe storage by the owner of this website as I was concerned that a dusty box in my shed wasn’t the best method of preservation.

There might be a way to get a copy to you, either digitally scanned via email or a printed copy?
I’m not on social media but if you email Swellnet and get my contact details I’d do whatever legwork is necessary to get it to you mate.

AndyM Sunday, 17 Mar 2019 at 08:35 pm new

It seems ImgBB is the way to go instead of Imgur then.

Is there an alternative for posting from a phone that doesn’t need to download an app?

Craig Wednesday, 23 Feb 2022 at 08:47 pm new

Yeah no need for app. Go to imgur.com and just paste or drag and drop.

etarip Wednesday, 23 Feb 2022 at 08:53 pm new

That doesn’t seem to work off an iPhone. There’s no upload feature, Only offers the app.

blackers Thursday, 24 Feb 2022 at 10:32 am new

imgbb also works as a drag and drop; https://imgbb.com/

Double island to Rainbow?

That hole is a complete pain in the arse isn’t it. Has been for a couple of years. The classic old cruiser will rust away in the blink of an eye if he keeps doing that.

I owned and loved that troopy for many years and from memory this trip was its final hurrah. Spent a lot of time on the beach and yep it was rusty as, but that's why I had it. Climbed like a boss too. Sold it to a bloke from Anna Bay from memory for his kids to drive and camp on the beach. Last couple of years come to regret that choice enormously. FJ45s dear as poison these days

Classic old beast.

Have a mate here that had one. Was his work vehicle so could claim expenses. Sold it because he didn’t want to spend the money. I suggested he should do it up. Bought a converted 80 series dual cab. Has since blown the motor and a heap of other stuff costing him $30G or so. Oh man that old 45 would have been tops with $30G thrown at it

Yeah Qld rego. Thank goodness. Wouldn't have lasted 12 months south of the tweed. Early years I used cut the rust out, weld in new sections, etc but it became too much. Was never meant to be a concours truck. In the end before a significant trip I used to run 100mph tape over the holes (esp the seam down the sides), mix up a pot of paint and just give it a quick respray in the relevant areas. So long as it looked "mostly white" to inquisitive eyes as I burned up the highway everyone was happy :) Offroad no one cared obviously.

One time the wallopers were pulling everyone over just outside Gympie and I was directed in along with everyone else: vehicle inspection, licence check and breath-test. While 5-6 slightly inebriated mates joyfully heckled me from behind, officer 1 breath test me and checked my licence while officer 2 circled the truck and gave it a good look over, eventually returning to my window and saying: "Your rear curbside tyre is going to go soon and there are holes back there I could stick my head through. *slight pause as he looks at the long line of forbeys banking up behind me* "Hurry up out of here and get this girl home."
