Board review vids..

That guy was interesting….Im impressed he can grow dope in a cold climate.
Boards are getting arty which is a good thing if they go good.

I watched some acid test Rasta video and I get your point Udo….i understand the value of alternate materials and designs for the future and for the fun of it.
I also know that even a common rack board of good design if looked after well can last many years especially if you have a few for different waves or even one board and one step up….just care for them carefully.
As long as you rail surf and don’t jump up and down on it like an idiot trying to do airs as well…..look after them and the environment…..I hate seeing pros popping big airs on team light boards….such a waste…..bad examples.
Most punters are pretty broke in this current environment and it’s tough to have the money to experiment with alternate designs at around $1000 or more a pop….good for them if they can…
At the end of the day it’s about getting a good capable board under your feet and the rest is up to you……it’s about you and the wave….moulded together…..even on a cheap board from gumtree.
I have however seen a lot of wide arsed Twinnies being paddled out into proper waves lately to the owners demise……that’s a special skill set…...horses for courses to the average joe.

They’d wanna be good because my 3 Fred Rubbles are still good to go.

Not Enough Waves Shown....
Get another Board Made with Fin Boxes and Experiment ...

Optimist Monday, 24 Mar 2025 at 04:55 pm new

I watched it again and I suppose it goes OK.
First look it seemed a Hoicka …(like you had to hoick it back to the lip…
I dunno….Ive ridden a few different epoxy’s in my day and even had guys say “ oh that thing goes great under your feet”…..but….blah….they feel dead to me even when they are going good…..I’m a PU tragic…
When I could surf I rode 1 x 4S decks and a 4oz bottom PU daily drivers and if you looked after them they would last pretty good and feel amazing…..Rail surfing not airy fairy tricks like these days.
PS that rawson looked great

That board of Ryans has a nice flow about it and looks to have a very thinned out tail which makes a board great. Nice looking thing.
Matts smooth operator is a board i was impressed with when i saw one similar to this.

That would be a good board to take back to your Black Sea surf camp ,
When you head back to Ukraine .
I’m still riding my soft board at Pipeline though!

Has anyone here ridden a Firewire Boss Up?

If yes, would love to hear how it is?

I want a new mid length and the 7 looks good.

HI Mid 6 is a good option or even better, get Tiger to make you a lovely timber one. Can highly recommend.

Thx Blackers. Looking at that Mid 6 also I just like the performance possibility of the Boss Up. I like the weight and the feel of the tech firewire uses in their boards.
I’ve ridden a Mid 6 and it’s a great board.

I’m a bit shy to order another custom board these days. I had Chris Garrett shape me a 7ft and it’s too heavy. Fantastic when on a wave but the paddling kills my back and shoulders. Thus the Firewire tech.

blackers Tuesday, 6 May 2025 at 01:48 pm new

Fair enough, but I will say my Elixir is as performance oriented as what I have seen of the BossUp (just going by their video). Weight wise, it is pretty light, lighter than a timbertek, probably similar weight to the older fst FireWire construction. Certainly lighter than a 6*6*6 glassed pu of similar dims.
The mid 6 can be thrown around too but exe in thunderbolt.

Hi RK, yep I've got a Bossup but only 6'6". I normally ride shorter around 6 0 to 6'1 but thought I'd give it a try. Goes great in solid waves and for that big a board turns quite tightly. I have a couple of mates with them too in 6 8 and bigger and they rate them. One guy reckoned it was a game changer. I use mine on bigger solid days but it still goes sweet in 2 to 3 foot but I ride shorter when it's smaller. I rate the firewire tech too. Super strong and durable.

Thx, poo-man, sounds good to me. Haven’t heard anything negative on them and what you say is good info. I think I will buy but will probably go the 7ft.

RK. From Facey Ad - Posted 16 Weeks Ago
Selling my 7’2 Boss Up mid length by Slater Designs in ibolic construction, great condition.

7’2 x 20 1/2 x 3 (46.4L)
Future fins boxes
Slater Designs tailpad

This board is absolutely epic and I’ve had heaps of fun from thigh high roller at the Pass to overhead, punchy beach breaks.

Works great as a quad but twin with trailer is my go to!

Love the board, but heading on a trip and max length I can take is 7’0 so I’m selling this one to fund a 7’0!

$1300 new so grab a solid discount
$ 995
