Im always into recommendations, so bring them on.

But so so many bands like that "Elder" out there on Youtube and Bandcamp, I've listened to so many like that trying to find that gem, a lot of it always sounds good but just not great and its always the vocals the ruin it for me.

I was/am a huge Kyuss fan, but i just don't think any band comes close to what they did, even John Garcias (Kyuss vocalist) other projects are kind of meh bar "Slo burn" even the reformed Kyuss without Josh and with a name change "vista chino" were pretty average.

Just that whole genre Stoner, Space rock thing always ends up sounding like a bad version of Kyuss or Black Sabbath etc

Totally agree. I've been fortunate (?) not to be exposed many new bands in the last decade though, so I'm just stoked to hear something new I like.

I'm biased, my little Brother is lead guitar. Surfers too.... October Drift.

First of all, you’ve got to assume that it’s semi-late season Indo and that the waters way colder than you’d imagine. Then you’ve got to picture neap tide paddle outs at a roping left point , somewhere near the equator.

Not hollow enough to be overrun on a regulation swell, but powerful , long and beltable enough to leave the thighs and shoulders tingling from the last few sets lined up square and fucking begging for the lip to be disintegrated into shards of spray till your thighs give way .

tbb is up front and admits Hypnobeat sucked me in 4 x now! How?
Reminds me of good-time infectious repetitive party riffs across all eras.
Just with the dancing & backtrack not the Lyrics tbb dug out some classics.
Pump up the Jam (with Hot Dance vid with the off beat drum timing is similar)

'Steal My Sunshine'...This was the first song that come to mind .
Again because of offbeat drum + Pace + Chix repetitive voice over

Groove is in the Heart...mostly because of the playful mix + Gazoo/Whistle.

tbb likes all these songs & equally so the crew's tunes..Great sounds guys!

I listened to their latest a couple of times and thought it was disappointing. I'll give it another listen. Indie Cindie and Head Carrier were OK but I prefer Frank Black's solo stuff, if you haven't heard "Pistolero" "Black Letter Days" and "Bluefinger" they are worth a listen. Lots of other stuff as well. He was really pumping albums out for a while to pay for his divorce!

I agree about the double posting. When Surfline started up the forums were chaos for that reason.

I am a long time lurker on this forum however I feel I have to speak up to say that the new hard ons album so I could have them destroyed is an adsolute cracker I was so disappointed last weekend that due to work commitment I was unable to see them play in Perth has anyone seen this tour last time I saw them was supporting the chilli peppers at festival hall in 92

I saw them about two years back, think maybe their first tour with Keish purely on vocals and Pete on drums. It was underwhelming, though they battled a washy mix and a cool reception from the crowd.

Be keen to hear their new stuff though.

I saw them in Freo last Saturday night. Seen 'em countless times so a bit jaded and wasn't really expecting much...BUT they were really bloody impressive. Great sound. Tight as a drum (Murray the drummer is a beast. Had a Terrorizer tee-o on. Says it all). Keish has also grown into being a lead vocalist with mic in hand since last time I saw them.

Their new stuff has definitely more garagey stuff going on. Even surf muzak crooning!

A note: Mojos in Freo is such a cool little venue. Great acoustics and general ambience. Also the support band LEECHES! fucking kill it. Red power!

Indo is right about Paz surfing and indeed the song is about a surfergurl.
Long Rider is penned by Black/Paz for close friend Desiree, killed in a wipeout.
Paz is a huge fan of 1960's Super 8 Surf Movies. (No doubt the Music too.)

@BB maybe im over selling it, i just kind of always expect absolute crap from these kind of iconic bands when they bring out new stuff, so my expectations are low.

Pixies to me have always been a band where i don't like all the songs on the album but some songs i regard as best ever, same thing with the Cure, but each to their own.

Saw Hard Ons at Summersault 94 I think.
Also loved Frank Black's stuff and can't get image of him driving hovercraft out of my mind.
Best music is my son, sounding through the house most days. I keep telling him to record it, there's an album worth of songs. I am spoiled.

Quality control started off pretty light. Released our own band's album, then spread from the inner circle outward. These days with plenty happening and releases selling out, we've gotta be strict with what we run with (even turning down close friends which is tricky). Appreciate the support!

I suppose we've all heard the studio version of Velvet Underground's Sweet Jane scores of times but I'd never heard this live version from Rock'n'Roll Animal until recently.
The interplay between the two lead guitars and the bass in the 3 1/2 minute intro is all-time and that's before Lou does anything at all.

Lou Reed "Rock and Roll Animal" is cracker. Same guitar duo that played with Alice Cooper on "Welcome to My Nightmare", [Hunter and Wagner].

Lou Reed did a solo album 'New Sensations', i murdered that tape on road trips.

Tbh Andy i can't lie, i can't recall listening to it but I'll search it out and give it a spin. I liked New Sensations cause it was kinda fun and a bit of a departure from a lot of Lou Reeds darker stuff.
