Alright, time for some discussion on what yr all listening too. My iTunes inventory is getting a little stale so I'm up for some inspiration.

Currently loving The Drones' album "Havilah".. incredible songwriting and some of the best recorded guitars and drum I've heard in a long time. I'm a little late to the party with this album but it's on high rotation at the moment and will probably stay there a while. I've seen these guys live once (Fowlers, Adelaide) and fortunately they're incredible on stage too. Can't wait to see them again.

Bill Ward! Oh Ward yeah!

Spuddups Sunday, 8 Mar 2020 at 07:35 am new

Farken' legendary clip. Thanks for digging that up for us. I saw them on their final tour a few years ago without Bill Ward which detracted a little from the experience. The guy was an absolute animal on the drums. I doubt there's anyone who's ever hit the drums as hard as he did.

Spuddups Sunday, 8 Mar 2020 at 07:40 am new

Come to think about it I reckon The Muppets based their Animal character on Bill Ward.

sledgedog Sunday, 8 Mar 2020 at 09:03 am new

Gotta love the chats. The guy at the end of the clip is actually real.Google
“Democracy Manifest” to see what I mean.

Saw the Dune Rats at Thebby Theatre last Saturday night(. 29th of Feb.) with the whole family. The last time we did that was 19 years ago at The Wiggles!! The place was packed & the Dunies went off!!The mosh looked insane all night. The wife & I were happy to sit upstairs( we are both in our 50’s) both we both agreed it was one of the best live gigs we had been to.
I reckon Aussie music is in good hands at the moment, plenty of good bands if you sidestep the mainstream crap!

Pupkin Monday, 9 Mar 2020 at 04:12 pm new

It's cool when things converge.

I went to Sabbath's farewell tour as well. I was nearly going to flag it because of no Ward. Left a bitter taste too that he didn't even get a mention.

And I boozed on with the Dune Rats and the Cosmic Psychos when they came through our town a few years ago. My mate used to spono the Cosmics his imported rum (Ross made an ad for him), and I was directed to drop a coupla bottles off for them at the gig. Nek minnit...

Fark, Mad Macka can put it away.

A message from Ross Knight of the Cosmic Psychos, on behalf of Cubaney Rum. from matt weston on Vimeo.

The director of the clip, Matt Weston, is also The Chats manager now.

sledgedog Sunday, 8 Mar 2020 at 01:55 pm new

The only one who hit the drums harder was John Bonham, the only one who played them better was Neil Peart of Canadian band Rush.Sadly both now in drummer heaven.

Pupkin Sunday, 8 Mar 2020 at 02:14 pm new

Chuck Biscuits hit the drums pretty bloody hard.

Rabbits68 Sunday, 8 Mar 2020 at 02:21 pm new

"Bill Ward! Oh Ward yeah!"

Yeah what a performance! One of many no doubt.

His Wikipedia page makes for pretty interesting reading too.

Ace of Spades was stuck in my impressionable young brain after seeing Motorhead tearing up the Young Ones' living room. And now Bodycount (WTF?) have released a pretty decent cover

lostdoggy Wednesday, 11 Mar 2020 at 09:35 am new

Body count's updated lyric cover version a few years back of ST's intsitutionalized was good value too.

late 80s early 90s as a grommet always use to tape rage and look through the tape the next morning for new cool songs/bands, same with public radio like RRR use to tape certain programs and make up mixed tapes of the songs i liked and then do missions to independent record stores in the city and buy albums and EP's from bands songs that grew on me.

Now i dig through youtube looking for gem's I've missed or lost.

Found this song today that was on one of my mixed tape's that is long gone, hadn't heard it for 20+ years, stoked to hear it again, no idea what their other songs are like but might have to check em out.

EDIT: hmm seems it was that Elliot Smith guy's band, wasn't really into him...his previous band sounds heaps better.

Same ID. Early 90s. Set the VCR then review on Sat morning. Some of the guest programmers were great. You’d get a selection of their favourite / formative tracks then usually a good 5-10 clips of their songs. Sonic Youth sticks in my memory as a good one.
The other rippers were the original Kingsmill J files. (Before he metamorphasised into a complete tosser)
The punk / ska editions were fantastic, especially as a contrast to the shit pop-punk that was polluting the airwaves at the time.

Optimist Tuesday, 17 Mar 2020 at 03:57 pm new

A funny sort of a guy Facto. If you want quality however enjoy this, my favorite song of all time and the one which will be played at my funeral.

Blowin Tuesday, 17 Mar 2020 at 04:24 pm new

If you want to get to the heart of who Facto is ....the stupid and blind adherence to a hypocritical opinion he gleams from others because he’s got no ability to think for himself is this...

Ask him why it’s all cool for him to ridicule you because he thinks that your religion is a piss-take joke for morons , yet if you ridicule an indigenous smoking ceremony or a corroboree he’s aghast at how disrespectful and bigoted you are .

And yes ....he will call you a racist. But that was going to happen no matter what you said .

Pops Tuesday, 17 Mar 2020 at 04:44 pm new

Blowin, I've just called out Facto, so to be fair I should probably call you out too...
"...the stupid and blind adherence to an opinion he gleams from others because he’s got no ability to think for himself is this..." Mate, that's a textbook example of the genetic fallacy. The truth of a view is in no way dependent on how that view came to be held. Argue against the view itself, not how it came to be held.

Gotta agree though, ridiculing/denigrating beliefs ain't cool. If you've got issue with the content of the beliefs, bring it up - most christians would be happy to debate what they believe. I get the feeling he wouldn't want to engage though?
(Edit: and that should apply to all beliefs, not just mine as I might have wrongfully implied there. Nothing wrong with arguing that a belief is incorrect, but ridiculing people just ain't cool. To be fair, I'm at work and can't use youtube, so could be getting led up the garden path there).

Pupkin Tuesday, 17 Mar 2020 at 04:39 pm new

Again with the strawman shtuff, blow in?

I genuinely like those two songs above I posted.

I know it's not John Denver, but hey, whatever floats your boat, cobber.

And thanks for the ignorance on display...AGAIN...about Australian Aboriginal culture. You're nothing if not consistent.

I wonder why that is...?

Blowin Tuesday, 17 Mar 2020 at 04:53 pm new

Typing the words “ smoking ceremony “ and “ corroboree “ is a display of ignorance now ?

Just goes to show I guess. Even at the exact moment you’re trying to convince people that you’re not a hypocritical virtue signaling fuckbag , you can’t help but revert to being a hypocritical virtue signaling fuckbag.

Here’s a song to celebrate your confirmation:

Pupkin Tuesday, 17 Mar 2020 at 07:28 pm new
