Never a dull moment.

The West - killing itself with its own stupidity.

It would be hilarious if you weren't smack in the middle of it, and bound to go down the gurgler too.

AndyM Friday, 13 May 2022 at 06:38 pm new

Exactly I.B.
Gonna get exponentially sillier and more difficult to navigate too, I reckon.

Island Bay Friday, 13 May 2022 at 07:13 pm new

I know that it's become almost a joke, or a reference to gag on, but 1984 does spring to mind again and again - as it has the last two years.

The dystopian bit is deadly serious, but often you just have to half laugh, half cry, at the sheer madness of it. As GO said "It's a beautiful thing, the destruction of words."

Everything has been turned upside down, inside out, and we all know it. All the woke loonies know it full well, yet keep coming up with more insane stuff, like the Guardian article above.

WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY and IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

AndyM Friday, 13 May 2022 at 08:34 pm new

Yeah it’s mad, we’re in a post-truth world where people are free to reject objective facts and ignore definitions for objects and words.
Tribes are choosing their own truth based on ideology alone and it’s already at the point where we have no common ground for discussion.
Fucked up.

tubeshooter Friday, 13 May 2022 at 09:10 pm new

Wow ,, sexual harassment for calling someone a 'bald c@#&' .?

I hope my neighbour doesn't read about this. I could be up for quite a bill.

DudeSweetDudeSweet Monday, 16 May 2022 at 08:59 am new

Bill Gates…..ugghh.

Billionaires should outlawed. He was specifically asked a question about that and he was surprisingly unstoked on the idea.

AndyM Monday, 16 May 2022 at 09:20 am new

Although he explicitly said that rich people should pay more tax.

DudeSweetDudeSweet Monday, 16 May 2022 at 09:31 am new

That’s what he said. Is he then volunteering 49% of his earnings in order to display that his virtue is more than just skin deep?

Or does he employ the imperative of the super rich and decide that his contributions to society are “philanthropy “ and to be disposed at his personal whim?

Wouldn’t we all like to legally evade regular taxation and be loudly praised for spending whatever subsequent amount we chose on whichever pet project we found amusing? Particularly if that expenditure allowed us a controlling I influence on society despite the resultant diminution of democracy which may occur.

stunet Monday, 16 May 2022 at 09:30 am new

Billionaires are just like us you know.

DudeSweetDudeSweet Monday, 16 May 2022 at 09:34 am new

I’d have have someone even suggesting as much assassinated by a satellite shooting laser beams with the raising of an eyebrow to one of my subordinates.

That was a very good link Patrick. Worked in every area mentioned in the program so pretty personal feelings, especially after long treks in the Tarkine.

And yet, the potential for Australia in a carbon 0 world, and geopolitically, is immense. What a time. I'd say go for it, but all Tarkine into World Heritage.

Classic. Just like sand through the hour glass. These are the days of our lives. Fragments of time.

Conspiracies, cults and phones. Onwards we plod waiting to be fed. Simple interest's forgotten, and the endless need to consume, to be and influence. Role models be gone. I and nothing more. Self interest is truth. Did you get it? 1000 likes and forgotten by next week.

Oh the memories of a simpler less self indulgent time gone by. Now all consuming in the need to be remembered, liked and to have the all ready saturated mind filled once more. Like an ever flowing stream, the flow is relentless. just like sands through the hour glass these are the days of our lives.

velocityjohnno Sunday, 22 May 2022 at 04:18 pm new

Hey Rob, the simpler time is still here, pick up board, get to surf, go out and surf, the thinking becomes the breathing, the momentum on the energy, it's all still here.

DudeSweetDudeSweet Sunday, 22 May 2022 at 05:56 pm new

We would not be hearing this sense of entitlement had the pharmaceutical corporations been enabled in their greed by the ludicrous mandating of vaccination against covid.

Modern fascism is old racism reborn under the imperative of corporate profiteering.

Indeed it is. Just harder to find with out reminders of the rat race. I'm just an old romantic reminiscing past loves gone by. Superseded by soulless tech merchants. No hard feelings just beautiful memories. Times a changing it's the devil I know. Take care of paradise where ever you may find it.

Pretty bad at the moment hey. Ongoing problem. Proposal to extend eastern groyne by 60 metres. Will this fix it? Wonder if it is extended if more sand will build up at Carties eliminating the mushburger effect.
A decade ago had a couple of fun novelty surfs across the mouth dodging the water police that were shooing off surfers. Was so shallow. Take off behind the groyne and race across the river mouth. Was thigh deep in the middle of the mouth.

I heard it was getting pretty ordinary up there on the bar. Haven't seen that clip though, good job getting off the sand in quick time.
I also heard the commercial fishos dumped a shit load of sand in the local Maritime office driveway as a protest. Classic.
