"I imagine that the first issue Morrison tasks to the new foreign review board would be to rescind the lease of Port Darwin to China ....lol."

Not easy to do. The lease is legally valid and given it has so long left to run the compensation would have to be huge. The lease was to a legitimate Chinese owned company so it is hard to see much legal wriggle room there.

I can’t imagine a politician acting any different amongst his peers than he does down at Sunday patrol at the surf club.

Said no one ever.

BB, could I kindly ask you to delete your posts that are quoting me or at the very least edit those out.

You can leave the abuse if you like.

Too late I have already forwarded the exchange to Tony!

blowfly Friday, 28 Aug 2020 at 04:50 pm new

Not really, glad your better judgement took over.

They rarely ever do end well hey Zen......

Sorry mate, couldn’t resist! :-)

zenagain Friday, 28 Aug 2020 at 05:14 pm new

That's ok Rabs. Yes, it was against my better judgement.

What I will say is that quite often a persons public persona may not be a true representation of their private one.

And BB, I apologise to you too. If we ever cross paths one day I will tell you and you can make up your own mind. I will not speak of it again here.

Tony Abbott got Peta Credlin up the duff. With a turkey baster. And a bar fridge.

Carry on...

D-Rex Saturday, 29 Aug 2020 at 09:18 am new

Lucky you can hide behind your keyboard rectum as Tony would beat you to a pulp if you were to say this to his face. Gutless shit that you are.

Vic Local Saturday, 29 Aug 2020 at 09:36 am new

Fun fact D-Rex, Abbott did punch Hockey in the nose during a club rugby game. It was at training and they were in the same club. Geez, what a top bloke!!!

factotum Saturday, 29 Aug 2020 at 10:53 am new

T-Rex, get it on, bang a gong!

From your fave news source:

"Ms Credlin revealed in a 2013 interview that Tony Abbott had been personally very supportive of her IVF efforts, even offering her his bar fridge to store IVF drugs and the use of his private bathroom where she could inject them."

What kind of slime are you ?

A few months ago you were trying to virtue signal by berating people as sexist misogynists and now this. You’re a disgrace bloke. If Trump had put this up you’d have wet queefed into your nappy , comrade.

Sad , mean spirited , little disgrace of a man.

Vic Local Saturday, 29 Aug 2020 at 07:31 pm new

Another fun fact. Abbott is known to be a drop in merchant at Manly. A mate watched him burn a guy, fall, and then snap his mal. When Abbott got to the beach my mate asked him if he was going to repair the mal. When Abbott said no, my mate said, "that's typical of you Tony, you're good at breaking things, and fucking useless at fixing them".

AndyM Saturday, 29 Aug 2020 at 07:04 pm new

Yeah he's pretty good at fucking things.

Oh wait, that's Barnaby Joyce.

My mistake.

Saw Tony in the surf a few times when living in Queenscliff. One particular occasion stuck with me.

Late summer, 2013, weekend. 1-2ft, clean and surprisingly fun little peelers at the north end of queensy. 4 of us out. Me, a bloke with his grom, and one other. Trading the infrequent but decent waves. Not much conversation, less a short discussion about how few people were out. Not much else needed to be said.
Then, out paddles Tony. Nose of his mal too far out of the water. As usual.
Within 1 minute of getting out the back he destroyed the chill vibe. First comment: “how good is this! Must be that carbon tax, hey!!!”
Looks around for acknowledgement. Stone cold silence. Starts to hit up old mate with the grom about how he knows him but can’t remember where from. “John, nah, Peter, nah, Craig, what’s your name again?”
Painful.
With barely a word the original crew just got a wave each and paddled in.

Tony got the peak to himself. Tide had gone too high anyway.

About a month later he stepped out between two parked cars at North Steyne and I had to step on the anchors to avoid running him over. Low speed but the bull bar on my Ranger would have made a mess of him one way or another. That was just before the election. Friend of mine in my car, nice girl / complete pacifist, says words to the effect of “wish you’d hit that prick”. On reflection, would have been interesting if I had. Sliding doors.

" In the earliest days of the pandemic, a story took hold in some quarters. This story held that the world would now change forever – had, perhaps, already changed. The crisis we were living through had brought into the light assumptions that had for decades driven the workings of our society, assumptions that had become so embedded in our everyday practices we had forgotten they were assumptions. When had we decided that bankers should be paid more than teachers or nurses? That some people should have a billion dollars and own acres, while others are crowded in tiny flats? That we could tolerate the strain on our hospitals and aged-care homes while handing billions to companies and rich people in tax cuts? That if we looked after the economy then everything else – fairness, happiness, community and quality of life – would take care of itself? Perhaps, now, we could revisit this tired thinking that had done damage to so many. "

freeride76 Sunday, 30 Aug 2020 at 10:24 am new

fcuk all changed, really.

blowfly Sunday, 30 Aug 2020 at 10:42 am new

Maybe for you fr. Of course if you worked at a university, were on a temporary visa, were a casual with less than 12 months in your job or worked in the entertainment industry, you were left with the prospect of massively reduced income, or no income at all, indefinitely …….that’s a pretty significant change!

etarip Sunday, 30 Aug 2020 at 11:26 am new

So you’re saying that the observed change is actually the opposite of that which might/should have been expected then BB?

Fair point.

JQ Sunday, 30 Aug 2020 at 11:42 am new

Seems we either have already reached or are rushing towards almost total regulatory capture of almost the entirety of the governments roles.

blowfly Sunday, 30 Aug 2020 at 11:48 am new

What I am pointing out etarip is that things have changed very significantly for a lot of people....and not for the better. Sadly, in many cases, it is almost certain that the worst is still to come.

etarip Sunday, 30 Aug 2020 at 01:34 pm new

That much is evident. It’s not what your excerpt from the Monthly article suggested. I’ll digest the full article when I get the chance.
Agree that things are going to get worse, and it’ll be the usual suspects like temp workers and the un/underemployed who cop it first and hardest. Unis and the Arts are an easy target for this govt.
