Is the idea to post things we love about Australia?
In that case, first things that come to mind...
-The mixing pot of cultures; particularly when it comes to food. I can (well, outside of pandemic-times) drive but a short distance and enjoy a meal from any of the world's great cuisines. Also ideas.
-Relative freedom of religious expression (albeit that isn't enshrined in law in NSW)
-Relative peace, security and stability
-Great climate, good waves
-Amazing landscapes
Of course, plenty of other places have similar benefits!
There’s places like this everywhere. Few people. Plenty of nature , space and solace to fish , surf , paint , write or just lay back and let the beauty of it all swallow you whole

DSDS, I saw Neil Murray play in Broome, a little quiet gig, he was fantastic, mostly acoustic.

Bon Scott's biography written by his wife, paints a great picture of the band in the early days and Bon's time gigging before acca dacca. There's some pretty funny stuff in it and a cool look at the music scene back then.

This probably seems like a weird choice, but like Richie says before the video it's a pretty good snap shot of the Aussie 80s urban sprawl that still continues today. To me it's just got a very Aussie feel to the song and the video, plus the Rifles and Lovelock very Aussie.

After the tragic accidental death of her husband, my mother in-law emigrated to Australia from a poorer country where she had limited prospects and managed to create a future for herself as single mum with two daughters.
That's one of the things I like about Australia.
And I was for awhile able to be one of the "dingos [that] are paid to live under the sun".
I like that about Australia too.

I'd like to recommend a movie. It's based on a Peter Carey novel and it's called 'Bliss'. Dark, humorous, touching, satirical, tragic, beautiful. In my opinion, ahead of its time. I haven't seen it for years but i'd like to revisit it.
Stars Barry Otto and Gia Carides.

What I would do to be in Oz right now.
I'm an expat surfer living in Sweden, the usual story, falling for a Swede, moving here and now waiting until my daughters are old enough to take care of themselves before I come back home.
Been here 10 years and have had many trips to the EU continent, Africa, trying to get my surfing fix. But 3-6 weeks a year doesn't cut the mustard. Nor does surfing in Sweden, it has to blow a gale to surf, most times it's onshore.
I surfed (or had the opportunity to) every day back home in Vicco before I left. Surfed since I was 8 (now 48).
Iv,e read every comment, watched every video you've posted here on this thread, awesome music and memories.
I check in on swellnet pretty much every day just to keep me sane.
I'm homesick!
All I can say to you LUCKY BASTARDS (caaarnts as Gra would say) who live by the coast in Oz and have an opportunity to surf every day is...ENJOY every wave, ENJOY the smell of Eucalyptus and wattle, finding a beach to yourself, the people behind the cash register who say gidday how's it goin? (Swedes are so conservative, they don't do that), the iconic music and live shows (when it comes).
I could go on and on.

Saw Bliss, the one starring Barry Otto, years ago. Weird shit, still remember some of the scenes. Didn't Barry's character grow a certain tree in the rain forest to attract bees to flavour honey in a unique way.
